| MASQUERADE I enter the ballroom, and everyones dancing. Looking so perfect, so carefully dancing. I feel out of place, I stumble and trip Anything but perfect, as I fall down the steps. They hold up their masks, I can't see their faces. So everyones happy, everyones happy. In ignorance they say, is a state full of bliss. But where is this bliss? I haven't found it. Behind my mask, behind the smile, the truth hides, that's where it resides. Smiles are good, and one needs to laugh, but even in laughter, I'm going through a crash. Show me inside, show me what's real, you have no idea how good it makes me feel. |
| (cont.) No longer alone, I really am trying. I'm not perfect, not the only one who's crying. Behind the mask, behind the smiles, what are you hiding? Please don't hide it from me, I want to see. Show me your pain, and you'll help set me free. Into your soul, you take on my pain, and into my heart, your tears I do gain. Together we bear it, and it's not so bad. You raise me up, make me feel less sad. I show you hope, when everything seems bad. I pull down the mask, I don't need it anymore. I'm actually smiling, from my very core. |
