I have done much research for this project. I have looked in books, on the internet and also have talked to people in the community. I believe that in order to do a project on a certain topic. It needs to be researched. After that, you can organize the information and draw your own colnclusions. I believe I have done just that.
The first thing I did was look on the internet. That was the easiest and most convienent place for me to look. To search for them I used various search engines. A few of them are Ask.com, Yahoo.com and Google.com. I found the website for the Humane Society of the United States which I believed would give me a lot of information. Other sites that I found were also very helpful. The site for the County of San Diego Animal Control gave me the abbreviated laws and rules that are set up in order to protect people along with more information about San Dieg o County specifically. Project Wildlife was another intersting site that was about helping animals.
After that I found more information about animal rights, care and shelters. Another place I looked was in books. I went to the Vista Library and looked in the animal rights section. There were many books on animals. I checked a few out and brought them home. I looked through them and wrote down the information that I used. I then returned them to that library.
The most interesting research I recieved would have to be from the actual humane society that I visited. In order to go there, I had to do research. I found the phone number in the yellow pages I had at my house. It was research enough to find that. I then called Shannon and Colleen. Shannon said she would go with me and so she did. That was research to find out if any one that was doing a similar project would benefit from reserching with me. Then I called the Humane Society in Oceanside. They said that they would need to get back to me on an interview and tour. Soon they did and I made arrangements. I spoke with the main Officer who works there. He told me a lot about the Humane Society and how it works. He also gave me advice on things I could do to help. Then we took a tour of the shelter. That was research by sight. We videotaped our tour and interview.
Later on I called the Humane Society again. I needed to find out about some kind of education assembly. I looked in the phone book for the number and called. The person I talked to took a message and said they would pass it on to someone else. Then someone called and said they would call another person. The third person I talked to said there is no one who educates people about animals care. She also said to check with veteranarians. Because of this I had to change my project and I did.
All throughout this project I had researched. In the beginning I did preliminary research and from then on I was reseraching and learning more.
For the specific books and websites please consult my bibliography for that information.
