I felt that to do this project I would need to go out into the community and speak to the people. First I called up the Humane Society and made a date for an interview and tour. I spoke with Shannon and Colleen to see if they would come. Shannon came and we learned a lot. First we interviewed an officer named Chuck, who works at the Oceanside Humane Society. He is an officer with a badge. He works around the entire state of California. Some things he does are investigating, educating, taking care of pay and public affairs. Below are the questions I asked and the notes I took during the interview. Then we went on a tour. We videotaped much of the interview and tour. This was an expedition we took and financed on our own. The only cost was gas money, but there was already gas in the care and my mom let us use it to get to where we needed to go. The interview and tour were free.
The interview went along with many of the Expected Schoolwide Learning Results. The one that fits most is communication. Speaking and listening are very important when you are speaking with someone in order to get information on a subject. I had to tell the person what I thought and then listen to the response. I accessed and retrieved information from him (another E.S.L.R.). I also organized the whole thing. This is proof of organization because it happened successfully. I called up my friends and asked if they wanted to go and do an interview and tour of the Humane Society in Oceanside. They both said they did. We agreed on a date. Then I found the phone number and called the place. I spoke with a few people there and organized a date and time to do the interview and tour. I then spoke with the students, one of whom decided they could not go. This made it a bit different than my already placed plans, but Shannon and I went without her because it was something we needed to do. We organized more plans in which my mother would drive us there. It happened and now we have the video of the final product. It took a lot of organizing to make it happen. This was an organized part of the organized product that was made in hopes of implementing change into the community and society.
