Hsing Yi(Xingyiquan) was created by Marshall Yue, Fei,(1103-1142 A.D.) around one thousand years ago. Initially created to train troops in a short time. Style emphasizes offense and linear forward movement.Yue, Fei was not only an expert in Martial Arts, he is credited with creating the Eigh Pieces of Brocade Qi Gong (Ba Duan Jin).
Fighting strategy is based on the mutual relationships of the Five Phases (Wuxing), for creation and destruction. The five basic movements can be combined for an effective martial style. Their are spiritual advantages to practicing Hsing Yi. The techniques are aggress, yet the training avoids emotional excitement. Great power is manifested in Hsing Yi, but it is a very refined power. The strategy is offensive, yet ordered. Training allows the spirit to be raised to a very powerful state, yet you will reain calm, peaceful, and in control.
Civilized modern day man, has lost most of their natural instincts, sensees and fighting abilities. Hsing Yi is based on imitiating the fighting techniques and spirit of twelve animals.

To master Hsing Yi, your mind must be empty. Start with an empty mind and imagine yourself bodiless. Although you have a mind, imagine yourself mindless. An old sage said, "Mindless mind, insubstantial-substantial." If you are attacked, counter naturally. Hit the person as if you were dis-embodied. You come to be the same as a Taoist: mind, mindless; body, bodiless; something, nothing.
