Welcome back devoted ones.  Heh.

"The Mummy Returns" takes place nine years after the fall of Hamanaptra.  Evelyn and Rick are married and they have a son named Alex.  While one a dig in Thebes they find this chest that contains the Bracelet of Anubis, once worn by the supposedly mythical Scorpion King.   Now you know Evy's going to be thrilled with this discovery.  They take the Bracelet back home with them, after running from the Nile River that is flooding the temple of course.  Where Alex puts it on.  He sees the way to Ahm Shere, which is supposed to be where the Scorpion King resides.

Meanwhile, Ardeth Bay is overlooking an expedition at the remains of Hamanaptra.  The expedition is led by Meela, the reincarnation of Anck-su-namun.  They find both books that were supposedly lost and the amber-encased form of Imhotep.  They take their findings back to London, knowing that the Bracelet was there.

To sum up a little, the expedition revives Imhotep so he can face The Scorpion King and control the Army of Anubis, then of course, take over the world.  But Imhotep, of course, has other plans. He brings back Anck-su-namun, then goes off to face the Scorpion King.  But he doesn't care if his "followers" live or die.

Imhotep's plans go awry when Rick defeats the Scorpion King and sends his armies back to the Underworld.  Ardeth Bay and his men are spared a painful and agonizing deaths at the hands of Anubis' army.  Anck-su-namun abandons Imhotep to die, then she gets killed by scorpions.  Hurt and alone, Imhotep throws himself into the depths of the Underworld.  Which really sucked, cause even he didn't deserve that kind of an end.

Anyway, the world is saved yet again, and The O'Connells live to desecrate more tombs.  heh.
