The Mummy






	"Thebes...City of the Living. Crown Jewel of Seti the First. Home of Imhotep, the High Priest of Osiris, Keeper of the Dead. Birth place of Anck-su-namun, the Pharaoh's Mistress, no other man was allowed to touch her....But for their love, they were willing to risk life itself..."

		If you think about it, "The Mummy" is actually a twisted love story. What starts the adventure is a curse that was placed on the devoted high priest, Imhotep, for falling in love with the pharaoh's future wife, Anck-su-namun. When the two were discovered, they murdered the pharaoh. Anck commits suicide knowing that Imhotep was the only one powerful enough to ressurrect her. But his plans back fire. The Pharaoh's soldiers follow Imhotep to the city of the dead, Hamanaptura. He and his priests are arrested (I guess you could call it that) then doomed to be mummified alive. If any of you reading this know what Mummification is...it's not pretty when the person's dead, let alone when their alive. Imhotep was given the *Hom-Dai* which apparently was the worse of all curses. He was mummified alive, then scarabs (Flesh eating beetles) were locked in his Sarcophagus with him. So he dies a slow and painful death for his deciet. Tough luck, huh? Centuries later, a British librarian, named Evelyn Caranhan is given an Egyptian puzzlebox by her older brother, Jonathan. Inside is a map to Hamanaptra so they decide to go after it. Evy goes for a book called *The Book of Amun-Ra* which was said to hold spells from the Ancient Kingdom. Big time fortune and glory for Evy, while Jonathan wants to go for the treasure. But in order to get to the city, they'd need help. So they employed a man named Rick O'Connell. Who was in the Cairo Prison for having a "Really good time". Rick supposedly had gone to Hamanaptra and returned, so our two British Heroes needed his help. After busting Rick out of Prison they make for Hamanaptra. When they arrive, the small expedition comes upon a Sarcophagus with a mummy inside. The Med-Jai (Decendants of Pharaoh Seti's Bodyguards) led by Ardeth Bay, attack the camp in order to make them leave, but to no avail. Evy accidentally wakes Imhotep and the scorned High Priest causes mayhem and chaos everywhere he goes so he can try to ressurect Anck-su-namun. (Now THAT'S Devotion!) Imhotep regenerates by taking the lives of four men that went to Hamanaptra the same time Evy and her crew went. They opened a chest that was cursed (go figure) and Imhotep takes their lives. Then he kidnaps Evy so he can kill her and bring his girlfriend back to life. So now, with the help of Ardeth Bay and an old pilot friend named Winston Havlock, Rick pursues danger and almost certain death to bring back the woman he loves. (which would be Evy if you haven't figured that out yet....lol). Back at Hamanaptra, as Imhotep is getting ready to do his Egyptian mumbo-jumbo. Rick comes and saves the day, as most heroes do. Evy uses the *Book of Amun Ra* to make Imhotep mortal, and Rick impales him on a sword. Then our galiant heroes journey off into the sunset on the back of camels with saddlebags filled with gold.
