I watch the prices of beef sore high after everyone grabs on to the Atkins Diet craze... A craze that really took off after that Atkins S.O.B. died. My local news station aired a story about the soaring beef prices... The reasoning for them to be so high was good old supply-demand (the heart of capitalism). As the demand grew the prices grew. Cattle farmers worried about the prices knowing, eventually that the higher the prices went the more and more people would stop buying beef. If alot of people were to stop buying beef... the prices would crash. One month later..... OUR COWS ARE SUDDENLY FRICKEN MAD!!!!! Sure, it was a huge problem over in Britian.... and it certainly seems that it could become so over here (ya know like that whole e-coli thing)....
Yet the little conspiracy theorist in me says........
What if they're making up this whole mad cow thing? What if they're blowing it way out of proportion? It would make sense... We're trying for a little economic recovery here, the last thing we'd need would be for the beef market to take a major dive... So what if the whole mad cow thing is about having the beef market take a smaller dive? Release the whole mad cow thing, people stop buying beef. The prices eventually drop. Give a little time... Release a story that the whole ordeal is over.... People start buying beef again...
Or..........
Maybe some major chicken farm has some friends in some very high places.
