Happy Cinco de Mayo! No, I'm not dead. Next week is finals, and after that I'm done with my freshman year of college. That, by the way, is what kept me away. Taking 18 hours of classes and working full-time kind of bites art in the butt. There's three new pictures in the gallery.
Finished: Geisha. I like her face ... and her nose, even though others told me they didn't like it and that it wasn't animé. I have been reading too much Memoirs of a Geisha lately. It's my fourth time through and I think it shows ... though you can tell I know next to nothing about actual kimono. And that sword ... (shudder) The symbol is supposed to mean 'warrior'. Done in openCanvas.
Fanart: Shampoo, from Ranma 1/2. To be honest, Ranma isn't a great show. But man, the 2D characters! It had such potential to be a great show, but it kind of falls flat. I don't like the background, I tried a billion different things and nothing was really very good ... her face makes me uneasy ... and her waist, my goodness ... but I like her hair, and the bonbori aren't as awful as I feared they would be. And the hiragana characters look okay, too. Lineart done in openCanvas, coloring in Photoshop.
Coloring job: Orangy. Tereya drew this picture of someone else's character and I used openCanvas to do some light coloring. I like the way the lineart kind of glows ... I'll have to use that trick more often. Nothing about it is very bad; but I don't think it stands out like it could.

Sorry about my absence. My AP exams were rather rigorous and I've been working a LOT lately. Money for college trumps art, unfortunately. I have begun coloring some work for my friend Stephanie (who doesn't color a lot) and I have three pictures up in the gallery for those. (Stephanie's website, by the way--because she kicks butt--is tereya.deviantart.com. I also have one original finished image up in the gallery. I also didn't sell anything at A-Kon this year. Actually, it was kind of lame. The yaoi fairy decided to put on a rather disgusting display too. Looking forward to Animéfest.

Yeah, I know it's verboten to update less than a month after the last update, but here I am, defying all expectations. There are two new colored sketches in the gallery, both with Painter Essentials 2. Look for more stuff soon.

Did you know, your eighteenth birthday is the most useless birthday ever? Yeah. All of a sudden, I can vote (two months after the presidential election, yay), I can smoke (allergic), and I can by porn (I'll pass, that's okay). I mean, seriously. At seventeen I could at least see R-rated movies by myself.

So, I've got some new images in the gallery. Not enough to make up for four months of absence, but I'm trying. Oh! For Christmas, I got a 6"x8" WACOM Graphire3 tablet, and with it Painter Essentials 2. The watercolors dry up when you close out of a file an open up again, but otherwise it's a good program. I've also been working on the style I draw in, thanks to the webcomic Megatokyo. I like that style. So, yeah.

Also, two friends and I might have a Komik Market table at A-Kon this year. At least, we hope so.

Man, things have been crazy around here lately. I'm really sorry I haven't updated recently; there have been several problems with my computers. My laptop (which I normally use to update my website) crashed (completely), irreparably damaging my hard drive and all the files on it. (It was old anyway.) We have a main "family" computer (a rather nice one), but I've never been able to use it for updating my website before. It would always crash in the middle of uploading files or editing .HTML files. Today it worked, so ... here I am. There are a few new finished images! Aren't you happy? :) I also sold a couple of pieces at AnimeFEST; however, the art auction was a disappointment. Nobody was willing to spend a lot of money; just one picture (a print, as a matter of fact) made it over a hundred dollars.

I'll probably have the commissions and print-order page up soon. Maybe. Don't count on it, though. School is crazy.

If you live in the U.S., how was your holiday weekend? Mine was boring, but pleasantly so. And I enjoyed the home-grilled burgers and whatnot. Nothing new (again), but just wanted to let you know that I've created a commisions page--it will be up next Friday or Saturday. Since I'm going away to summer camp with my youth group (Sunday to Friday!), it would be rather pointless to put it up now. I don't expect much to happen, but the extra cash would be cool. Eventually I'll put up a page where you can order prints. Snifty, eh?

Also, I'm working on two fanarts--one of Faye (from Cowboy Bebop), and one of Shampoo (from Ranma 1/2). Both will probably (hopefully) be done by AniméFest. It's been awhile since I've done any fanart; it's hard trying to work in someone else's style (such as Rumiko Takahashi) that's not very similar to mine. Ah, well. Live and learn, folks.

'Sup, peeps? Not much here. Updated the links page with a new outgoing link and (gasp) a banner of my own. Sorry about the lack of recent updates; am working on a comic.

Well, A-Kon was fun. I wasn't able to be in the art show this year, seeing as how the walk-in registration sold out in, like, ten minutes. But I did (now, don't tell the A-Kon folk), er, display some of my artwork in the hallway and manage to make some money. Next time I'll go about it legitimately, don't worry. The next cons I'm considering going to are: AniméFest (I WILL be at that), UshiCon, Oni-Con, and possibly KamikazeCon. I'm starting to enjoy myself, actually.

Thanks to the encouragement of one especially nice guy at A-Kon, I'm now considering being open to commissions and online sales. I've never really considered the idea before because I just didn't think I was good enough, but it seems I just might be. Can't hurt to have the option up, no? Besides, I'd like to see how I perform under pressure. I will post more information on that soon.

No real update this time (i.e., no artwork), but my email address HAS changed. Next time I'll hopefully have a commissions info page up, as well as several new links.

Just wanted to let you know I'm alive. I started (and actually finished!) the Matrix chick, but she's been updated. Due to the circumstances, I was absolutely unable to redo the chain (it was way to much work the first time around anyway), but, in compensation, gave her an eyebrow piercing. Sorry. Anywho, the background's slightly different (not much), the text is on the right side now.

Lately I've been thinking of just not being in the art show, but now that I've got at least two pics finished (hah hah, like that's enough), I was reconsidering it. At least I won't disappoint Courtney (my animé friend). I was thinking, since it took only a few hours to redo the Matrix chick, it shouldn't take long to finish two or more pics for A-Kon. Ambitious, eh? Yeah, well ... we'll see. I doubt it will come to much.

No updates this time around, sorry. But for anyone who wants to see smashingly funny videos created by some of my friends, visit crapromedia.com. Ah, the joy. Ah, the sweetness.

Hey. I know I said that an update would not be overdue more than three weeks, but things have been certifiably CRAZY at school. And, blah blah blah, I know I said that once the AP exams were over with, I'd have way more time. Devoted reader, your first lesson is that you must learn not to trust everything (okay, ANYTHING) I say, especially things I promise. I have one more picture in the finished images in the Gallery, and it's one that I may be selling at A-Kon. I didn't reserve a panel (I barely prereg'd for the Kon itself in time), but last year I got in as a walk-in. My friend Courtney and I are trying to walk-in and get a panel together. (She has some really cool stuff by the way, if you come across hers at the show!) I'm in the middle of another piece. I know I need to remake the Matrix chick. Hopefully I'll make it in time for the Kon. (Eight days left!) Sure, that's plenty of time for a picture I've already done before, right? *rolls eyes at self* Yeah, right.

Just wanted to let you guys know that no, I'm not dead, and I'll have an update soon. (Yeah, I know, like that ever happens, right? ^^) Don't worry, I have been working on some really cool projects ... my scanner isn't working, so I have to do it at school, and I'm simultaneously working on three or four pictures instead of doing one at a time, so not one is finished yet. Well, one's almost done, anyway. Should be an update soon ... which, when roughly translated, means maybe three weeks. *sigh* As soon as we pass May 7, I'll have PLENTY of time to work on art and this site. Because on May 7, I take the AP U.S. History exam. I also take the English Language exam on Monday, but I'm not so worried about that one. At least I'm only taking two this year. Next year I'll be taking ... one ... two ... *begins counting on fingers* ... seven next year!

I may or may not be going to A-Kon this year. It all depends. Problem is, I'm pretty strapped for cash. Spent my last forty-five bucks on a prom ticket today. Why am I even going, I wonder? Proms are for dates. Regular dances are for friends. Besides, there'll always be next year, right? This is only junior prom. Well, whatever, anyway. I lost my last paycheck, too. My largest one--not saying much--but more than a hundred, which would've easily gotten me into A-Kon.

Oh, and my hard drive with my one really good piece of art crashed. It was the art I was counting on--the Matrix punk chick. Well, Brittany, you might be saying, it's on the website! Well, viewer, I might respond, that's a low-resolution, low-quality image. There was the faerie too, but she wasn't as good, so I don't care so much. I'm very angry. *Glare of Death (TM)*

I think this is my longest entry yet. ^^

    2.21.04
It must be some kind of record ... an update in ONE WEEK?? That's IMPOSSIBLE! ^^ Well, I have updated ... *drumroll* THE GALLERY! In fact, the FINISHED IMAGES! Two new finished images, to be exact. ^^ I'm very very proud of the Matrix punk chick, myself. And that FAERIE! Perhaps my new mascot ... then again, maybe not. Check it out!

    2.14.04
Happy Valentine's day, I suppose ... not much to celebrate when you're single, eh? ^^ Well, I have spectanfabulous news! I updated! There's a new "sketch" in the gallery [more like a speed painting] of a fire spirit! She's so pretty ... That's all for now, though. I had just finished filling up my sketchbook and scanned in everything semiworthy, and was inspired to do a quick painting in Photoshop of this drawing. I like it a lot. Hope you do too.
