[ Intro ] In the year 2015, entities called "Angels" appeared in Tokyo-3. Mankind's only hope for survival is Evangelion, the multi-purpose humanoid developed and constructed by NERV, an United Nation agency. Summoned by his father, the supreme commander of NERV, 14-yearold Ikari Shinji climbs aboard Evangelion and finds himself thrown into a maelstrom of battle. Neon Genesis Evangelion is the creation of Anno Hideaki and Gainax, It hit Japan like a wave when it first came out as TV series, then expanded to movies, soundtracks, miniature models, and other merchandises. There are many conspiracies hidden in the strory, which require careful attention to comprehend them. The story is closely related to biblical prophecy, that the world will come to an end one day. The story also reflected the negative side of human: loneliness, separation anxiety, deviousness, fear, hopelessness. The main character, Ikari Shinji, portrays a problem teenager who wishes to be loved and accepted. Evangelion combines actions, biblical prophecy, myths and realities of life has, captured the hearts of anime fans. |
