Many writers say that they love to read, and I am no exception. I love to learn also. That is part of the fun of writing--each new assignment means I get to go out and learn about new people, places, and things.
What is up with the Spanish? Again, just a pure love of learning. As a child, I wanted to learn how to speak Spanish, but I started school during a "French" year (all students in that year took French). No disrespect to French, but I really wanted to learn Spanish. In college, I seized the opportunity to take Spanish 101. Then I ended up minoring in it, studying in Costa Rica, and then going to get a Masters in Spanish Translation. See how dangerous a little learning can be?
