Paris - Parisienne Walkways
Home
My itchy feet needed scratching so I decided to take a trip to Paris for my birthday. I arranged to meet Catalina and Christophe  who spend most of their summer in the suburbs of Paris. This meant I didn't have to expand my library of Lonely Planet books as I had a real life guide, accomodation and recommendations for shopping and eating. Over the four days  I walked miles as seeingthe city with a local meant shunning the metro and bus in favour of exploring more of the backstreets. Luckily there were plenty of cafes and bars to keep me going.
I imagine evryone who has been to Paris has a photo similar to this. I'm glad I have finally seen this relatively local sight, (less than 3 hours by train). I figured it was about time I saw some of the bits of Europe I have missed out.
I spent my first day in Paris catching up on gossip with Catalina and taking in some of the sights. We did the Eiffel Tower, Monte Matre, Sacre Couer, Champs Elysess, Arc de Triomphe and the Opera house. We also happened to pass the Moulin Rouge so I thought I'd test my new digital cameras capabilites.
Not bad considering it was taken from a moving bus.
Apologies for my terrible French spellings!
A well deserved ice cream after a hard days sight seeing!
On the following two days Christophe led us through many (and I mean many), backstreets. Along the way we took in Tulieres and Luxemberg Park, the assembly, the Louvre, Place de Voge, Pompidu, the Pantheon, Sant Michel, Bastille, Notre Dame and Place Dauphin - which was on of my favourite.
I really feel like I have seen lots of the sights of Paris and look forward to returning and soaking up the atmosphere when I have a bit more time.
Christophe and Catalina relaxing in park Luxemberg. This is one of the many places to come and sit with a book or magazine and chill out in the city.
I thinkChristophe is dreadin hearing us girls say - 'Is it time to shop yet?'
I really enjoyed exploring Paris, there is plenty to see, shop and eat - my kind of place! Not too sure about some of the architecture -  I suspect the Louvre is just another government ruse to hide alien space craft. I did like the older bits though like the windows of Notre Dame.
