Dear Parents,

This year, seventh grade students will participate in an overnight residential program on two different islands in the Chesapeake Bay.  Boys will stay overnight on Port Isobel East and girls will stay overnight on Smith Island.  We have included some information about the trips on this website but please feel free to visit the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's
website concerning overnight trips.

Smith Island Sample Itinerary:

DAY 1:
1:15  arrive in Tylerton
1:45  introductory meeting
3:30  cultural/geographical orientation; set crab pots
6:00  dinner
EVENING    Bay ecology, night hike, star gazing
DAY 2:
SUNRISE canoe trip; weather check
7:00  breakfast
8:30  canoe to marsh for an exploration; scrape and SAV studies
NOON  lunch
  Town tour of Tylerton
  Visit wildlife refuge, bird watching
5:30  pull in crab pots for evening meal
6:00  dinner
EVENING night canoe or hike, art
DAY 3:
SUNRISE canoe trip, journal reflection
7:00  breakfast weather check
8:30 leave dock for "bayside" of Island to explore the eroded west shore, the beach zone and high marsh
NOON  lunch; discussion of beach zone
1:00  return to center; house clean-up,pack, and wrap-up discussion
3:30  leave Tylerton on Captain Jason II
5:00  arrive in Crisfield
