Jacky Newcomb interviews... Glennyce Eckersley
Author Children and Angels

Q. I love your book Children and Angels.  What is the inspiration behind it?

.Mainly my niece, when struggling to come to terms with the loss of her mother, She told me of how the gentle form of contact via fragrance, convinced her that her mother was now her guardian angel. The lovely story is featured  in the chapter "Heaven Scent". I was intrigued and began to research the subject.

Q. Why do you think so many children have angel experiences?

A.
Children are so "open" and willing to accept the angelic contact without question. They have not yet learned cynicysm and no has laughed at their stories. It is a lovely age of innocence and acceptance.

Q. Are all of the psychic encounters that children have angels?

A.
No, I don't think so. Some children obviously have heightened psychic and spiritual powers, they may  have their spiritual eyes open and see beyond this world. For instance, we have all heard of children having "invisible friends", the perceived opinion amongst many researchers today, is that they are actually playing with children who have passed on.

Q. Many parents are frightened when their children have these experiences.  Do you have any suggestions for how they can cope with their own fears?

A.
There are many books available about this phenomenon, it is always reassuring to read about the experience of other families. Praying for guidance, or meditating and asking for angelic help will  bring comfort

Q. What can parents do if the children are frightened?

A.
Once more I would suggest books that reassure, Joanna Crosse's  "A Child's Book of Angels"  with it's lovely illustrations would help, there are many available to read at bedtime. Lots of hugs to comfot the child ,emphasising that many children have these experiences and  they are very special to have love from the angels.

Q. Did you have an angel experience yourself as a child?

A.
Not as such, but there were lots of "angel coincidences" looking back at that time. I frequently visited my Grandfather's business with him, in an area I discovered  later was called Angel Meadow. This area has been the location for several amazing angelic accounts. My mother frequently would sing a song called "When an Angel Comes Along" and I recall being fascinated by a small angel statue in the house, given to my parents on the death of my sister. Lots of angel connections therefore.

Q. What is your favourite children and angel story?

A.
I think the story about Louise, to be found in the chapter "Hospital Angels". After suffering a brain haemorrhage Louise was lying seriously ill in hospital, her mother's freinds whilst visiting, saw two, huge angels at the head of her bed. One friend was distressed believing the angels had arried to take Louise to heaven, and fled the ward in tears, the other friend was thrilled believing the angels were there to heal,  happily, she was correct !

Q. How can people buy your book?

A.
From any major book store and also online at www.angelladyshop.co.uk
