2006 The War Birds live drafted very well, but then again we only had 8 owners this time. A far cry from the 12 we had last year. I Originally drafted some really great players, but my big break came mid-season when I made a huge trade that brought in Peyton Manning (I know, I might regret this) and Alge Crumpler to pair up with Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. Right away I saw results... good ones! About to win the division at this writing, and heading into the playoffs with a strong team. Demigods again hold the highest power ranking in the other league thanks to LT's amazing season, and just finishing up the 1st playoff week, I see all the other strong teams just got eliminated... victory is MINE!!! I avoided EA sports this year, but got involved in 3 NFL.com leagues. I auto-drafterd all 3 and ended up with LT in all 3! Couldn't believe I got 'em with as low as 7th pick! I'm heading into the playoffs in 2 outta 3 of those leagues also.![]()
2005 "Live" Drafted at a friends basement pub. I drew 4th pick in both fanball.com leagues this year. Last year the "Demigods" and "War Birds" made 2nd round playoffs, and "Birds of Prey" brought home the SB trophy in that EA Sports league they migrated to. I retired the "Birds of Prey" this year so they could go out at the top of their game. I have a new team "OxEmorons" in EA Sports, but only because they offered me a free team again. I really don't like their system as well as fanball. With the #1 pick last year, I took Priest Holmes in both leagues and was very successful until he went out with injury. Reminded me of Faulk in '01. This year I also changed my draft strategy a bit when I took Peyton Manning as my first pick. I lucked out and snatched up Marvin Harrison too. Looking for Indy to air it out this year. (2005 end of season notes) Just wanted to say that even though Peyton Manning choked my team for a few weeks in the beginning, the War Birds ended up in the (8 team) playoffs for 1 round. The Demigods went into the second round (4 teams) even though we lost Daunte Culpepper and Priest Holmes(again). The best free agent pickup I made this year was Samkon Gado from Green Bay (replacement for another of my high draft picks: Ahman Green). I grabbed him before he broke out in both leagues. 2004 "Live" Drafted extremely well! I drew 1st pick this year which hopefully will get me out of the cellar I was kept in last season. After my team went 10 straight weeks in the "L" column, I'm looking forward to being a contender again. I've formed a new team "War Birds" to try to freshen up my image at Fanball. The "Birds of Prey" have been relocated to the "EA Sports" site. So the original team "Birds of Prey" will be migrating again... I guess that makes them migratory birds doesn't it? Maybe the Birds will have better luck at EA. I've also joined another fanball league owned by a friend. The new expansion team will be called "Demigods". 2003 "Live" Drafted very well, but this time being in a smaller league (10 teams) it seemed easier to get a quantity of good players. This time I went over to Fanball.com and became a league commissioner. A challenge I wanted to try before, but nfl.com was too expensive (fanball price = $50). Also, I'm in here with mostly local buds from around town. Fanball.com also has a feature that allows us to keep track of league finances, so we have an entry fee and prize money w/trophies coming @end of season. KA-CHING! 2002 "Live" Drafted well, kicked ass all season exceeding 100 pts. 90%, ended season with a loss in the big dance. (Looking forward to next year now) 2001 "Auto" Drafted very well, Moss was a bust, and Faulk was injured for 1/2 of season, but still managed to pull out nearly a winning season. (Lessons learned for next year) |
