Steven Jackson - A Writer's Journey
Welcome to my writing world where you can see where my creativity takes me.
Writing Report: February 9th, 2006
Well this is a two week report because I was out of town for much of last week.  It has been productive in many ways.  I have been looking over a few songs I wrote, specifically one called In The Eyes which I wrote for two friends for their anniversary.  I'm realizing that songwriting offers a whole new way to express emotions and that some of my experiences and the ones I live through others give great ways to write.  The present week came to the news of a friend's mother's impending death.  I had to sort some feelings about it and it too came through a song called Forgotten.  I hope someday to showcase some of these songs with some help from musicians.

This week also allowed me to finish a number of scenes from Tennessee including one of the last two scenes.  It has been a long time coming with this play.  I always thought that it was because I was never giving it enough time and I'm sure it's a little true, but I'm learning that my greatest fears are the fear of letting a project end.  Writing these final scenes completes a journey of sorts and I find that scary.  I know I have much work to do on this play, but it feels much easier seeing the finished piece than before.

I am still reading through The Code Of the West to see where to take the play.  It has a great journey ahead of it dealing mostly with my need to introduce a sexuality much needed.  This has been a struggle in the past, but I think I am starting to see through it.
