Writing Report: Sunday, October 15th, 2006
Well I published my first serial entry online this week and I was very excited and scared all at the same time. I was excited because I rarely show people what I write and this serial, while fiction, is very much about me in many ways. It revolves around my life living in Toronto, about some of those journeys, but its also about people I know and the journeys they are making, be it relationships, understanding their culture, coming out or finding the artist within.
I was scared though because now I realize that I have to keep this story going. I am excited about that, but it's crazy to think I have one chapter of these people's lives with so many left to write. I have written about four chapters and have about another seven sort of scripted. I'm really letting the characters tell me where to go and I think that's the best way to go about it. This week, I went to see the production of King Lear at Soulpepper and it was amazing. This is one of my favourites of Shakespear and the production had a great cast including a very hot Edmund. :) The great joy of it all was that I had a standing only ticket and it was so good, I stood for the entire three hours. Now that is good theatre. :) Books I've Read: 1) Writing Life by various writers - a very inspiring book for me about how writers interpret how they write life. Some dealt with biography, history, public speaking and just the mechanics of it, but there was rarely an article out of place. A very good purchase from my day at Word On The Street. 2006-10-16 04:28:07 GMT
