Writing Report - Saturday, July 29th, 2006
This week was spent working on a report I had to write about my time in Chicago at the Gay Games. Apparently no one ever writes these reports, but because the bursary was given to me by Team Toronto, I feel I should. I could never have got there without it. I decided to write my report first hand as in front the actual event place where things happened. It's in three parts, the boat cruise around the city, the opening ceremonies and a match we had on the second day. It's a little more creative than most reports would be. :)
From my last post, I went and saw The Real Thing at Soulpepper and on thursday, I also went and saw Gross Indecency: The Three Trials Of Oscar Wilde, Moises Kaufman. Both were excellent and I find myself more creative after seeing more plays. I find myself getting ideas for new pieces and solutions to problems in older ones. I am starting to get some finishing ideas for Tennessee and on Thursday night, I started to really see the bigger picture for The Code Of The West, delving into my fantasy that will help bring life to the reality of the plays. I think anyone who has ever been in the closet for periods of time creates a fantasy life and even when we travel outiside of it, the fantasy world still exists. These are just some thoughts that I'm working on. Books I've Read: 1) Specimen Days - Michael Cunningham - Three long stories come together from the past, present and furture to weave stories of New York in the image of poet Walt Whitman. Fascinating characters which took a little more thought to get into, but well worth it for the feeling of better understanding at the end. I'm hooked on ready Whitman's Leaves Of Grass now much like the Hours made me want to read Wollf's Mrs. Dalloway. Damn you, Cunningham :) 2006-07-30 00:43:13 GMT
