Writing Report - Saturday, June 24th, 2006
So I decided to change my writing report day to Saturday. Saturday is a less productive day for writing and a hard one to get started on since I work weekends. This means I use my writing time during the more productive times during the week for actuall writing, not just my report. So this week has been very good ( well week and a half). First I have made some edits to Tennessee so that it flows a little better. Much more controlled writing on my part, Tennessee kind of represents a more mature writing style I think. I have tweaked the first act and now I have to work on the second act. I'm hoping for a late summer reading and I'm already thinking about entering it into Fringe if I can find some interest. I might chat up the play when I see a few plays at the festival this year. Maybe I don't have to be the sole investment on this. Nothing much to report on Fathers And Sons since I formatted it last week, but I have been getting into my short stories. I finished the one that I was having trouble with. I have to twek it a bit too since I'm not happy with its too much like life feeling as it needs separating from who I am a bit. I started writing one of the other stories to amusement. It is called A List Bear, completely something I was thinking about for a while in the collection (not due to your rant, Bill :)) The collection follows a bear through his life and this story is quite fun to write. Within three paragraphs, I fell in love with the main character. That doesn't happen everyday, so I will continue with it. I'm also working on my characters for the Fringe Festival's 24 Hour Playwriting competition too, but that's going fine with a look back at a series of two person plays I was thinking about. It's nice seeing ideas coming together from another purpose. Books I've Read: 1) Who Do You Think You Are? - Alice Munro I read The Lives Of Girls And Women in university and loved it. This book was equally enjoyable (and a little long reading for me) and it's nice to read about a character that is not so easily loved or even liked and yet still wanting to follow her. 2006-06-24 15:08:00 GMT
