Writing Report: Tuesday, May 30th, 2006
Well writing has been very good this week. First off, the Tennessee play looks really good and I find I'm very happy with reading it completely for the first time. I just sat in my living room in the afternoon, Sebastian (our kitty) staring at me then sleeping through it (good sign, bad sign?). I was mostly happy with it and was able to pick out problem parts, long parts (I refer to them as "isn't that beautiful if it weren't so damn long" parts) and character issues. I feel that the play shows improvement in how I write characters and I think my writing has really matured with this one.
Second, the short story is now in the stage where I am writing and typing it on the computer. So far so good, but it does still make me uncomfortable with issues. I'm still working on that. Third, new ideas are starting to pop up for me which is very cool, probably because I have been more focused on the writing and thoughts of where to go once finished help. I volunteered at Fringe tonight filling envelopes and that whole scene got me buzzed. I am planning to enter the 24 Playwriting Competition again this year, so I have to start seeing what to do. I can only plan a little like combining two chararcters (three was too many last year). I have to get down there early on Thursday to drop off my registration. If you like a challenge, please enter, it was a blast the two times I've done it before. Books I've Read 1) Maurice by E.M. Forster - thought aged a bit, a remarkable book for when it was written promoting amazing ideas of tolerance and being gay. Always wanted to read this classic and it would have been amazing to see what would have happened if released in 1914 when written. 2006-05-31 03:23:47 GMT
