Steven Jackson - A Writer's Journey
Welcome to my writing world where you can see where my creativity takes me.
Writing Report: Wednesday, May 24th 2006

So I discovered I'm way faster writing and typing than trying to type from my writing book. :) I have been typing my short story and really getting sucked into the emotions that it is bringing from me. It is a story I have decided to add to my collection for About Dan, eight glimpses into the world of one man from different perspectives. This story, however, is very personal and I feel like I'm fighting a lot of emotions with it. It's hard to finish, but I can see it as being a healing story for me, so I have continued. The hardest part of the story is that it contains people I know and my feelings towards them being written within it. I know I want these stories to be told and yet there is always the fear that I shouldn't because it might bring up lots of stuff. I know that writing is usually not that good unless the personal invades the story, so like I said, I will continue it.

I will be looking back at Tennessee this week hopefully tomorrow with a full out reading, then getting out the big red marker and making notes. It works well for me, but it always such a scary experience because sometimes I remember writing it better than the way I see it later hehehe :). I have very good feelings about this play, that it will be a shorter journey than the past one, so I think it will be a good read.

I have also been going over another story idea for a play from a dream I had and I'm starting to see what angle I need to take it. This one is a little slower because I only have the small bits of the dream to work from, but I am already seeing a clear structure and even some character development, probably a four character play since I need to get back to less characters and more development in them.

Books I Read:

1) All About "All About Eve" - Sam Staggs

Only for the diehard All About Eve fan, this book recounts the journey of the film before and after.  This is my favourite scripted movie because each line is hit dead on and this book helped me see where it came from, but like I said, only for the diehard since it's mostly accolades and gossip.
