A Test of Bravery

The sunlight filtered luxuriously through the window on one of the first sunny days the gloom-shrouded city had seen all autumn. To lay in a patch was like floating endlessly in a pool of comfort, warmth, and carelessness. Spoon was sprawled out on Kore's single bed, enjoying the delicate colors which filtered his bliss through the stained glass. His breaths made the limited spectrum shift back and forth with an almost rocking motion. Eyes half-closed as he dozed, Spoon was not so homesick for the little house in the country he'd lived in until only a few days ago. Had it been days? Or weeks? Or months? He couldn't remember for the life of him how long it had been, but the markings told him not to try. Spoon ran a crimson-designed hand through his multi-colored hair sighed at the lateness of the morning.

"Dreaming of home?" Jack, in all his paleness and brooding leaned against the open doorframe with a nonchalant smirk that Spoon had grown to worry about. He was dressed up a little more today than usual, and Spoon shuddered because though his pants were nice and fit him well, leather had always bothered him.

"Not really, it's nice out, but it's too cold to actually lay out there." Shifting so his uncovered torso was obstructed a little, Spoon sat up and tucked a piece of blonde and red hair behind his ear. Spoon pulled away from him and started to head to the door, but was suddenly blocked by the man's arms pushing him back into the room. He looked at Jack's feet, since he now stood in front of him, and tried not to feel intimidated. "I... I'm gonna go see if Kore needs any help with the store..."

Shaking his head, Jack stalked forward until, by the means of his own backing up, Spoon was cornered between him and the bed again. He leaned in close so their chests touched, the rough fabric against raw painted skin. "It's a slow day, and it's me who needs your help right now..." Jack held his shoulder while he whispered a list of obscenities into Spoon's ear. The boy looked like he was going to cry or vomit.

"Jack, stop." Spoon couldn't believe what he'd said aloud and raised a trembling hand to his lips. Now he was even more frightened and his whole body shook with the effort not to sob. He wanted to run, wanted to escape, but another glance up at that smug face of beauty changed his mind. Spoon began to feel anger rising in him and wasn't sure what to do with it.

"Shhh, come on baby, you'll like it." He urged with words and insistent hands that were guiding the reluctant man to lay down on his sister's bed.

Gritting his teeth, Spoon tried a last chance to duck around the lithe man, but was caught. Again, his temper rose, simmering softly. Red tinted his cheeks to match the delicate spirals already placed there, and Jack mistook it for blushing. "No." He said solidly. "I don't want to." The brief surge of adrenaline seemed to abandon him and fear took its place again.

"Yes, you do. Now just lay still and quiet like when I came in." Jack cooed back, still trying to redirect the other's body to the soft blankets. He was surprised when gravity left him, and a floating sensation took him.

Spoon simply picked up his tortmentor with a little bit of a straighter face than a moment before, and carried him like a small child. He felt Jack relax against him, thinking he had relented and was only switching rooms. Or maybe he was just enjoying being held by the shorter man. Using his foot to open the doors, he made his way to the basement, getting the light with his elbow as he passed it.

Eyes closed and expression content, Jack didn't notice where they were going until he was being held right over the large in-ground pool in their basement. He tried to struggle, tried to grab for something, but only twisted twice in the air before he was consumed by the freezing water.

Simply shrugging and appologizing to the sleeping moomba in the corner for waking him, Spoon made his way back up to Kore's room. There he sprawled over her sheets again, nabbing a pillow for under his head, he smiled to himself and drifted back into the gentle wrap of the warm colors.

End.
