virtual mall: voice interaction, video, reputation ratings, finding others with compatible interests and personalities, private or public virtual worlds where you control all membership, whiteboard, chatrooms with more than just text or voice. Have some chatrooms where anonymity is not permitted - real names, pictures, and profiles.

As Ted Nelson has put it so well, software should have the texture, complexity and coherence, and evocative power of a good movie. It can be a work of art.

Why eBay's feedback ratings work: There are financial incentives to be honest and keep all promises. If you don't pay or ship products, your ratings go down. Feedback is specific and permanent. You must live with the consequences of your actions. Your ratings are public, there for the whole world to see.

Education -

virtual classroom: whiteboard, running student written programs, audio, video, virtual world tour (scalable): by exploring a virtual world, you learn how everything works (government, infrastructure, buildings, businesses, non-profit organizations, religious groups, machines, processes, procedures, etc.) This must be designed to reflect the real world, although alternate worlds will be possible, but separate. See Mirror Worlds, by David Gelernter.

Work -

job and employee locator, job descriptions, training, how to start and run businesses, get financing, do bookkeeping, employee and management training open to all, using video.

Virtual desktop -

do all your work from any computer, because all your software tools are just a click and a fast download.
