| This site is established to preserve the history and memories of US Army units and personnel assigned to or commanded from Korat, Thailand. Initially, the only US forces in this area were advisors of the Military Assistance Command. In 1962, the Joint Task Force 116 was deployed to counter the insurgency on the northern borders of Thailand. The Task Force was later withdrawn, however troops of Headquarters, 9th Logistical Command remained. Eventual troop buildups resulted in the formation of the US Army Support, Thailand (USARSUPTHAI) in 1966. The 9th Logistical Command was deactivated in Thailand on 12 June 1970. The last units and personnel of Headquarters, USARSUPTHAI were deactivated and withdrawn in 1975. |
