Sifting

I've created a great way to sift that's easy to handle, easy to store and easy to use.

Let me preface by saying I had a big sifter made out of 2x4's. It was heavy and hard to use.

I was at my local .99 store when I had an inspiration, a vision- a picture in my head.

I bought 3 of their cheap one gallon buckets.

I cut the bottom out of 2 of them. I hot glued regular hardware cloth onto the bottom of one, and screen into the bottom of the other.

I put the Hardware cloth bucket inside of the screen one. Then I throw a scoop of dirt (See Soil Page) inside of the bucket.

I shake it a few times, and it sifts out the huge particles, and drops the useable soil components into the window screen bucket. I then shake that, and the remaining dirt is perfect! then I pour that onto the third, untouched bucket, and voila! Perfect organic!
