Listening To Another Woman Bitch
(Epoch Four: 1989-1999)
She said,
She never knew
A man
Who hadn't used and abused her.
After hearing that
I offered her my hand.
Instead
She captured my shoulder,
As she went on and on.
While I nodded my head
Wanting to mend her.
Which in fact
Was a front.
Misgivings toward the other gender
I have more than a few
Of my own.
It began with her dad
When she was only three.
Not wanted to believe
I faded out.
Wondering how often I have heard this
From them.
As though their telling me with tears
Would bring back
The worst of their past.
With each succeeding moment of shame,
Her voice went up in pitch.
Finally when she was through,
She asked me what I thought.
I told her
Though most of what I heard
I willingly forgot.
"That sounds incredible,
How were you able to endure?"
At once her look switch,
From so sad to so glad.
As if to proclaim,
"I've been a victim
For so many years,
But I'm waiting for a comeback.
You had me first,
But I'll get you last."
Who am I to deny,
Anyone can say what they want,
And then spread the word.
It doesn't matter if its true of not.
The only thing for sure
Though I wish,
It seems there will never be a cure.
Listening to another women bitch.
