For What It's Worth
(Epoch Four: 1989-1999)
It seems to them
I'm the culprit.
Unlike she, who would smile
Even when it's against her heart.
While mine does confess
The wrath it clings.
They will continue to believe
She is a saint.
Her smile seemingly
Pure and innocent.
Her words soothing
As a skilled violin.
I only pray
Others will never come
To put faith in her
As I did.
I was struck in quicksand.
I desired her hand.
She not wanting to tarnish
Her comely dress,
It turned into a broken branch.
Blending with the obscure earth
While I sank deeper.
For what it's worth
I too admit
She sounds good
However,
I have learned from experience.
One's life is more
Then the sum
Of what they say.
Words solely,
Any deceitful soul can bid.
