A Lonely Man In A Singles Bar
(Epoch One: 1979-1982)

Observing indiscriminately, yet discretely
All the women in your view.
Wearing your tailor-made shirt
Left half undone.
A smoke lit pipe resting firmly
On your virile, hairy chest.
Nursing your beer,
While announcing to everyone
All the love you possess.
Quoting Aristotle, Marx, and Voltaire,
Although their thoughts you couldn't understand.
Seeming suave, debonair, intellectual,
In control of your own destiny,
You were able to capture an audience.

Man who too wanted to live your fantasy.
But I could see and empathize.
The reason for your song and dance.
Trying to hide, not wanting to be,
Who you really are,
A lonely man in a singles bar.
