Off-Roading in Cozumel
![]()
Cozumel, Mexico is a very special place for me. I know people wonder how I got down to this far away land. I went here as part of a honeymoon package. Our first destination on our cruise was the Grand Cayman Islands. This is a very beautiful place. I hope you have the chance to go there one day. The reason I am mentioning this stop is because of the population of SUVs. I mean there are tons of them. Ever wonder whether or not Daihatsu still made the Rocky go to Cayman and you will see them all over the place.
Cozumel had its fair share of off road
vehicles too. Me and my wife Rashawnda signed up an off road adventure. I
downplayed this thinking we would ride in some souped up bus of some sort with a
boring tour guide. Man was I wrong. We had our choice off 4x4 Jeeps that were
5speed. I still had doubts because when we started off we rode through the
streets of Cozumel checking out the locals and their housing arrangements. Wrong
again!!! We took a left turn and was on a horse/off-road/boat trail. The guide
told us when it rains the only way down this trail is by boat. The trail was
very nice Big Holes , ponds, and the usual swamp (crazy).
The trail ride would have been enough but they took us to Paradise Island an privately owned island that catered to our every need with Grilled chicken, Some big Fish and all the Tequila you could drink for free!!!!! After the Tequila I could not drive no more but it did not stop all those other knuckleheads.
