Knee-Deep Off-Roading Society

This is the story of amateurs trying to be active enthusiast. It all started one cold night here in the town of Auburn. We decided to take my friend's Land Rover for a night trail ride. We were out having fun the way normal college kids do:) and got stuck. Most people would think we could not get stuck in The  Eco-Challenge Land Rover XD. This truck was my friend Arvind's truck. As most knowledgeable people might know Land Rover's are very heavy vehicles and man did this thing sink.

When I said sink I mean like quicksand and a lion from the Tarzan movies. With all the lights this vehicle had we did not see this mess in front of us. About the time we hit it all that could say is 'punch it' at the top of my lungs. We were very stuck. Like Knee-Deep stuck. That is where we got the name from of course. But that is not the end of the story.

The next step to this story is trying to get out of this sticky predicament that we were in. Lucky for us Arvind's Hi-Lift jack was at the house. But he did have his shovel. Me and one of our cohorts Bret dug like some dung beetles but to know avail. We resorted to calling people. The first person to show was this nice girl with a Tahoe 4x4. If this Tahoe had Mudders or some type of off-road tires on it we probably could have pulled Arvind out. And if Arvind hadn't left all the lights on the truck on and run the battery down the truck probably could have reversed out. That plus we realized we were in a ravine of mud!!!

We tried to pull the Tahoe down the hill in front of the Discovery but got it stuck!!! Stuck vehicles were up to 2. We called Bret's roommate Jay to bring Bret's Jeep to pull out the Tahoe. But right at the entrance of Planet X we were bogged in more quicksand in the stinkin' Jeep. 3 vehicles stuck. It is starting to get very cold and wet. Everybody starts to worry. We call one more person (Lindsey). She has a beefy 4runner with a nice brushgaurd. She pulled out Bret' Jeep and then tried to pull out the Tahoe but that Tahoe was stuck worse then we thought. We had to do the unthinkable we called the dreaded wrecker service. 100 dollars later we had the Tahoe free but the guy wouldn't pull Arvind's Discovery out.

We had to wait till the next day to pull Arvind's Disco out with a Dump Truck!!!!!

I hope you enjoyed this very true story of our humble beginnings. Please read the other stories list back on the homepage.
