Stefan and Bobbie's Room, Wyndemere: Stefan(fastening up the back of Bobbie's ball gown)Barbara, would you please stand still. If you don't, I'm never going to get you fastened up. Bobbie:I'm sorry, Stefan, I can't. I'm just too excited.(she twirls around the room, excitedly)I can't believe it. The night of our Bacchanalian Ball has finally arrived. Stefan(chases after her and finishes fastening up the back of her gown)There, all done. You may move all you want, now. Bobbie:You could have let my maid dress me, you know. Stefan:(with a lusty look in his eyes)You know I enjoy dressing and undressing you. Bobbie:You know, even when I was a child I never dreamed of living a night like this. Stefan:Well, I'm glad I could give you this night.(he pulls her into his arms)And, tonight, is just the beginning. (he suddenly turns serious)Are you sure you're not upset about me not telling you about Brenda's mother being in town all this time or about me giving her a job working at Deception. Bobbie:Of course not, Stefan, I trust you completely. And I understand completely. If our situations had been reversed and Carly's father had shown up in town, I probably would have acted the same way as you did. Stefan:Strangely enough that doesn't comfort me. Bobbie:(puts her arms around him and presses her body to his)Stefan, you're not jealous, are you? You're not actually jealous of a man I'll probably never even see, again, much less recognize if he were standing in front of me, on the off-chance that we ever did happen to run into each other, again, are you? Stefan:Of course not. I'm not the jealous type. Do you really mean if Carly's father was standing in front of you right this minute, you wouldn't even recognize him. Bobbie:Stefan, when I knew him I was little more than a child, myself, and he was just a boy. I mean, you told me you didn't recognize Brenda's mother when you first saw her, again, either. Stefan:That's true. It's strange, you know. I thought I'd feel a flicker of something for her even after all these years, but I feel absolutely no attraction to her in the slightest. In fact, meeting her now, I don't know whatever attracted me to her in the first place. It's kind of sad in a way. I thought the love we shared would last a lifetime, and it didn't even stand the test of time. Bobbie:By the way, Stefan, don't you think it's time you told me what this mystery woman's name is. You've addressed her as Brenda's mother, her and she, but you've never addressed her by name and I have to admit I'm a bit curious about her. So, what is her name, anyway? Anna(knocks on the door)Mrs. Lansbury sent me up here to tell you your guests have begun to arrive. Stefan:Thank you, Matilda. Well, I guess you'll just have to wait a little bit longer before you find out what her name is. She's coming here, tonight, to meet Brenda, and when she arrives I'll introduce the both of you.(he holds out his arm)Shall we go and greet our guests, Barbara. Bobbie(takes his arm)You rat! Sonny and Brenda's Bedroom, The Brownstone: Brenda(admiring herself in front of the mirror)Sonny, I just don't know why we have to take Carly with us. Why can't she find her own way to the party. Sonny:It makes no sense to make Carly call a cab to take her to the docks when we're both going in the same direction. Besides, I'll be the envy of every man at the party, tonight, when I arrive with two beautiful women on my arm. Brenda:Just so long as they all know I'm the one you're with, not Carly. I don't even know why Carly has to go to this party. It's really not her type of thing, anyway. She's more suited for beer and pretzels at Jake's Pool Hall. Sonny:It's her mother's engagement party, Brenda. Brenda:Well, it's also my father's engagement party and she'd better not do anything to ruin it for him or she'll have to deal with me. Sonny:I'll go get Carly and then we can leave for the party.(he walks out of their apartment and stands at the bottom of the stairs)Carly? We're getting ready to go? Are you ready, yet? Carly(appears at the top of the stairs)I'm ready.(she glides down the stairs enjoying the admiring look in Sonny's eyes)How do I look, Brown Eyes. Sonny:Beautiful, as I'm sure you're aware of. Brenda(comes up behind Sonny)If you're done preening for Sonny's benefit, Carly, we can leave now. Carly:What's the matter, Brenda, did you suck on a lemon or something. I'd think you'd be on the top of the world what with your daddy giving you that expensive Cassadine family heirloom gown to wear to the party, tonight. Sonny:Carly... Brenda:I would be if you weren't in the picture. Without you everything would be perfect. Carly:Well, we can't have it all, can we? Sonny(takes Brenda by one arm and Carly by the other)Shall we go, ladies.(he mutters under his breath as they exit)We'd better fasten our seatbelts. Something tells me it's going to be a bumpy night. Ballroom, Wyndemere: Anna(watching the door as people enter while Robert places glasses of champagne on a tray)Have you seen Veronica or Helena arrive, yet? Robert:No, but I've been keeping my eyes open. Anna;I wonder how Veronica plans to do it. Robert:It could be anything. Poison, a knife, a gun...you name it. We'd better keep on our toes tonight and expect the unexpected. Anna:Maybe we should warn Brenda about what's supposed to go down, tonight. Robert:Nothing against Ms. Barrett, but she strikes me as a bit of a ditz. I think if we were to tell her her homicidal mother was on the loose and was planning to kill her here, tonight, she'd go into hysterics and tip-off Veronica and Helena to the fact that we're on to them. Anna:Maybe so, but what if we aren't able to stop Veronica and she succeeds in killing Brenda. If we don't warn Brenda her life is in danger and something happens to her, it's going to be our fault. Robert:All right, you've got a point. To be on the safe side, we'll have to take Ms. Barrett into our confidence. When she arrives will take her aside and tell her what's going on. A Limo On The Docks: Veronica:Not only does Stefan want me to meet Brenda, tonight, he also wants me to meet Bobbie. What are we going to do if he introduces me to her as Roberta Anderson. Helena:You've got nothing to worry about, my dear. That's never going to happen. With the fireworks display I've got planned for this evening, that introduction will never happen. Veronica:Stefan never said anything to me about there being a fireworks show, tonight. Helena:That's because he doesn't know about it, yet. The little pyrotechnical display this evening is my contribution to the festivities.(she hands Veronica a small, square box with a button on the top that fits into the palm of her hand)Here, take this. You'll need it for later. Veronica:What is it? Helena:It's a detonation device. I've had one of my people place a bomb on one of the boats moored at the dock on Spoon Island. Veronica:Why would you do that? Helena:Because that's how you're going to do away with your darling daughter, tonight. Once I set my plan in motion, I'll make sure the sabotaged boat is the only way she can get off the island. All you have to do is wait for her to get inside it and roll it out into the middle of the harbor and once she does just press that little button and little Brenda will be blown skyhigh.
