Robert and Anna's Apartment, The Brownstone: Anna(enters)I wrangled you a job as a waiter at the Bacchanalian Ball, tomorrow night. Robert:Time was when we'd be guests not servants. Anna:Well, times changes, Robert. Besides, we'll have more freedom as servants. Are you forgetting we have to figure out how Veronica Barrett intends to kill her daughter at the party and put a stop to it. Robert:Wouldn't it be nice if Helena and Veronica would discuss their plan on the yacht so we could have the whole thing spelled out for his via the bug we planted. Anna:You're dreaming, Robert. Things just never happen that easily in real-life. The Bacchanalian Ball is tomorrow night. If Helena and Veronica are going to discuss their plan on how to off Brenda Barrett, I think they would have done so by now, don't you? I got the feeling from their last conversation that Helena is leaving it up to Veronica on how she wants to get rid of her daughter. Robert:I've got a feeling you're right.(there's a pounding at the door. Robert goes to answer it. It's Nikolas)Nikolas, we've been expecting you. Nik:Is it true! Are you my parents? Robert:We thought it would be best if it came from Robin. Nik:It's true then? It can't be true! Anna;Yes, Nikolas, it's true. We're your parents and your our child. Robert is your father, I'm your mother and Robin is your sister. Nik:No, Laura is my mother, Luke is my father and Robin is my girlfriend. Look, I know up until now there's been a question to who my father was, but you can't make a mistake about who a person's mother is. Laura gave birth to me. Laura is my mother. Anna;Nikolas, the child Laura gave birth was born dead. After I gavea birth to you, you were stolen from me by Helena Cassadine and Cesar Faison to replace the real Cassadine heir so Helena and Stavros could keep control of the Cassadine empire. Nik:No, this can't be true. I know Helena's evil, but she wouldn't steal another woman's child and pass it off as a Cassadine. Robert:It is. When we found out we felt the same way you're feeling now. We couldn't believe anyone could do something like that. But it's true. Nik:Why didn't you tell me the minute you met me.(he turned to Robert) You've been working with me on the docks for weeks.(he turned to Anna)You even had me over for dinner. And, yet, neither of you said one word to me. I had to find out from Robin. Anna:Nikolas, we're practically strangers to you. How do you just go up to a stranger and say, "We're your parents." We had Robin tell you because we thought you might take the news a little better from her since you know her so well. Nik:You thought hearing from my girlfriend that she's really my sister would be easier? Robert:We intended to tell you ourselves after you got to know us, but we found out we'd run out of time and you and Robin had to be told now. When we learned you and Robin were brother and sister and that you were dating we knew the truth had to come out before the two of you became intimate with each other. Nik:What do you mean when you learned Robin and I were brother and sister. Surely, you realized that the moment you found out I was your son. Anna:When we found out you were our son, Helena made sure we were lead to believe that Robin wasn't really out daughter. But when we planted a bug on her yacht we found out the truth. That you and Robin are both our children. Nik:But what if Helena knew you were listening in on her conversation. What if she was lying when she said Robin and I were brother and sister. Maybe it's not really true and we can still be together. Maybe you're not even my parents. Maybe this is all one big sick joke on Helena's part. Robert:That thought has crossed our mind, that's why we want to have medical verification of the truth. To be on the safe side Anner and I think you, me, Anner and Robin should have tests comparing our DNA to prove one way or another if we're all all related to one another or not. Nik:Fine, the sooner we do it, the better. But until I see a test saying that the two of you are my real parents, I'm not going to believe it.(he storms out of the apartment) Robert(turns to Anna)Now that cat is firmly out of the bag, I'd better call Luke and tell him it's time he told Laura the truth. Helena's Yacht: Carly(enters)Hello, Grandmother. Here's the poloroids I took of the gown Brenda's going to be wearing to the Bacchanalian Ball, tomorrow night.(she adds as Helena goes through them)Do you think you'll have any problems making a copy of the dress for me? Helena:No, it should be no problem. So, Stefan gave the little twit one of the traditional Cassadine family gowns to wear to the event, did he? I know this must upset you, my dear, but you can't let it. Carly:As a matter of fact, it doesn't. All I care about is you getting me a copy of this dress so I can get my husband back in my bed where he belongs. Brenda can have my father, just as long as she doesn't have my husband. Helena:Excellent. You've pleased me tremendously, my dear. You have the right idea. Keep your eye on the prize. Carly:Reclaiming my husband from that man-stealing trollop. I'm so glad you approve, Grandmother. So, the plan is still on? Helena:Of course. By the end of the party, tomorrow night, your husband will be all yours again and the end of your husband's relationship with Brenda Barrett will be at hand. Carly(smiles)You know, Grandmother, you and I are a lot alike. Helena:How so, my dear. Carly:Well, we'll both do anything to get what we want most, even if that means having to double-cross a member of our own family to do it. I hope you know that if it ever came down to a choice of being loyal to you or getting my husband back, I'd sell you down the rive so fast it would make your head spin. Helena:As I would you, dear, if you ever got in the way of something I wanted. I'm glad we understand each other so well, my dear. Veronica's Office, Deception: Veronica(as Stefan enters)Stefan, I heard you came back early. Did something go wrong on your trip? Stefan:Somehow Brenda found out I was her father before I had a chance to tell her and she demanded to go home. Veronica(has a hard time hiding her glee)Stefan, I'm so sorry. Now do you see why I was so reluctant to reveal to Brenda that I'm her mother. Stefan:But wait, Roberta, you haven't heard it all, yet. It turns out there's a happy ending, after all. After Barbara and I arrived back home, Brenda came to me and we had a long talk. She agreed to give me a chance to be a father to her and build a real relationship with her. Isn't that wonderful. Veronica(forces herself to smile)Oh, yes, Stefan, that's wonderful. Stefan:Roberta, I've explained everything to Brenda about why you gave her up for adoption. She's so thrilled your her mother instead of that crazy Veronica Barrett, that she bears you no ill-will. And she's just dying to meet you as soon as possible. Veronica:Stefan, I don't know...I don't think I'm ready. Stefan:I understand about your reservations, Roberta, but the longer you wait to start building a real relationship with our daughter, the worse it's going to be. Brenda really wants to meet you and I promised her I'd arrange a meeting between the two of you at my engagment ball, tomorrow night. Please don't make me disappoint her, Roberta. Please don't disappoint me. Please say you'll come. Veronica:Since you've already promised Brenda, Stefan, how can I say no. All right, I'll come. Actually, now that the decision has been taken out of my hand, I really can't wait to be reunited with my little girl. And I really think the ball is the perfect place for us to meet, again. You did say she was dying to meet me, didn't you. I'll have to make sure our meeting doesn't disappoint her, then. Stefan:I'm sure it won't. And I can't wait to finally be able to introduce you to Barbara. I haven't liked keeping your presence a secret from her. Veronica:I can imagine meeting me will come as quite a shock to her. Stefan:Well, I've got to go now. I'll see you, tomorrow, at the ball. Veronica:I'll see you there, Stefan.(her smile vanishes as soon as the door closes behind him)Crazy Veronica Barrett, is it, Brenda, dear. Well, I'll have to make you pay for that one. Yes, the Bacchanalian Ball will be the perfect place for us to meet, again, Brenda, darling. So, you're dying to meet me, are you. Well, if you aren't now, you soon will be.
