The Brownstone: Carly(enters)Well, what did Brenda find out when she went to see my father. Is it true? Is she really his daughter, as well? Sonny:She isn't unless your mother had twin daughters and didn't tell you about it. Carly:What is that supposed to mean. Sonny:According to Cassadine, he met up with Roberta Anderson, recently, at the Port Charles Grille, and she told him Brenda was his daughter. Carly:But that's impossible. My mother is Roberta Anderson. Sonny:I know. Which can only mean one thing. The story about Brenda being Stefan Cassadine's daughter is totally bogus. Someone must have impersonated Roberta Anderson and fed Cassadine some line about Brenda being his kid, so now he believes Brenda is the child he had with Roberta Anderson. Carly:But I'm that child, not Brenda. Sonny:Look, I told you Cassadine had no idea you were his daughter and this proves it. Helena Cassadine lied to you when she told you he knew you were his daughter and didn't want anything to do with you. If he knew you were his daughter, he'd be treating you the exact same way he's treating Brenda, right now. Carly:I don't understand. Why would someone do something like this. How would they even know enough of my mother's relationship with my father as Roberta Anderson to pull something like this off. Sonny:Just think about it for a moment and I think the answer will come to you. Who besides your mother and father knows about your mother being Roberta Anderson. Who told you Stefan Cassadine was Cass Stephens, your father. Who told you Cassadine knew you were his daughter, but wanted nothing to do with you? Your grandmother, that's who. Carly:No, she wouldn't do something like that to me. Sonny:Carly, when are you going to get it. She's not your friend. She'll do anything, say anything, to get what she wants. Our son. Carly:No, Sonny, you don't understand. I went to Helena and asked her if Brenda was really my father's daughter, too, and she said it was true. Sonny:Well, of course, she's going to say it's true. That's what she wants you to think. Carly:Why? Sonny:Who knows with her? Maybe she wants you to think Cassadine wants to be a father to Brenda but not to you to widen the rift between the two of you.(he notices the look on Carly's face)What? Carly:When I went over and confronted her about Brenda she said I should just forget about my father. That I should let Brenda have him. And when I suggested maybe he didn't know I was his daughter and I should go over and tell him, she told me I didn't need him since I have her. Sonny:See! What did I tell you. Carly:No, it can't be true. She wouldn't do something like that to me. Sonny:Sure she would. The woman will do anything to get her hooks into Michael. The only way she can do that is to keep her hooks firmly dug into you. It's in her own best interest to make sure you never develop any kind of relationship with your father. Brenda(rushes in carrying a ball gown)Baby, look at what my father gave to me to wear to the Bacchanalian Ball. He says it's been in the Cassadine family for centuries. Isn't it beautiful. I'm going to go anda try it on. I'll be right back to model it for you.(she rushes off) Carly:Sonny, what are you going to do about this? Sonny:What do you think. You just saw Brenda. She and Cassadine have to be told the truth, immediately, before they develop a real father/daughter relationship with each other. They have to now your his real daughter, not Brenda. Carly:(thinking of Helena's promise to help her get Sonny back)I don't think we should do anything rash. I think we should think about this, first. Sonny:What is there to think about. Brenda has always wanted a real father and she's eating up Cassadine's attention with a spoon. She has to be told before she develops a real relationship with him and starts thinking of him as her father anymore than she already does. Carly:Brenda, of course. I should have known this was all about her. She's the only one you ever think about, isn't she? Sonny:That's not true and you know it. I saw the look on your face when Brenda came in here with that dress. You looked like you wanted to yank it out of her arms and yell, "Mine, mine, mine!" I know you, Carly. You'll never be able to stand the thought that Brenda is getting the attention from your father that rightly belongs to you. I'm just suggesting we tell them the truth, now, before they get too close to each other and when the truth comes out it's a devastating blow for the both of them. It'll hurt less to be told now they're not really related to each other than to be told later after they've bonded as father and daughter. And it'll be easier for you and Cassadine to start bonding as father and daughter in the long run. Carly:Look, Sonny, I'm not ready to tell Stefan I'm his daughter, yet. I want to wait a little while before I drop my bomb on him. Is that really so much to ask. Sonny:Yes, it is. It's not fair to Brenda or Cassadine to let them go on believing they're father and daughter when we both know they're not. Carly:Sonny, you promised me you wouldn't tell anyone Stefan Cassadine was my father. Are you going to break that promise to me, now? Sonny, this is my secret to tell, not yours. And it's my decision when I decide to tell it. Sonny:Just when do you intend to tell it? Just how long do you want to wait? Carly:I'd like to wait until after the Bacchanalian Ball is over. That's only a few days. Surely, that's not too long to wait, is it? Sonny:Why do you want to wait until after the party is over? Carly:(couldn't tell him the truth. That before exposing Helena's scheme she wanted Helena's plan for the Bacchanalian Ball to take place, first)I don't want to ruin my mother and father's engagement party and if I tell them the truth now, it will be ruined. There's no telling how they'll react when they find out what Helena has obviously tried to pull. It's also petty obvious my mother has no clue that the man she's engaged to is the same man who got her pregnant and abandoned her, years ago. Anymore than my father is aware that he's already engaged to the real Roberta Anderson. Who knows how they'll both react to that when it comes out. Is it toomuch to ask that we let them enjoy their engagement party before all hell break's lose? Sonny:I suppose not, but I'm warning you, Carly. With or without your cooperation, after the party I'm telling Brenda the truth. That she's not really Stefan Cassadines daughter, at all. You are. Carly(watches as he goes off to find Brenda)That's just fine with me, Sonny. That's all the time I need. All I need is Helena's help to get you into bed at the party, then I can take the rest from there. After that, I won't need Helena's help anymore to get you back.
