Corridor, Port Charles County Courthouse:
Sonny:Carly, what are you talking about. There's no possible way I 
could be Michael's father.
Carly:Sonny, you remember the night we had sx together right before 
you and Brenda got back together? (he nods)Well, that's when it 
happened.
Sonny:But you've told everyone AJ was the father. Have you been lying 
about who Michael's real father was all this time.
Carly:God, no, Sonny. I really believed AJ was Michael's father. After 
that night I slept with both Tony and AJ, I missed my period, and I 
assumed I'd gotten pregnant then since I didn't use  protection with 
either AJ or Tony. And that was before you and I had slept together. 
So, I naturally assumed there was no possible way you could be 
Michael's father. When Tony checked Michael's blood type when he was 
born and he realized he couldn't possibly be the father, I assumed 
that meant AJ was Michael's real father. But I must have missed my 
period because of all the stress I was under when I was afraid AJ 
would remember he'd slept with me and tell Tony. I didn't take a 
pregnancy test until after you and I had made love. So you can see how 
I assumed AJ was really Michael's father, can't you?
Sonny(eyes Carly suspiciously)Carly, are you trying to pull some kind 
of scam to convince me and AJ, I'm really Michael's father so you 
won't lose custody of him?
Carly:Sonny, how could you even suggest anything like that.
Sonny:Because I know you and just what you're capable of when pushed 
to the wall. I mean, isn't it just a little bit too convenient that 
you just realized I'm really Michael's father just when AJ looks like 
he's going to win his custody battle against you?
Carly:Sonny, I didn't just realize it. I've known for months. You 
remember when Michael got sick?
Sonny:Yeah, it was right before Luke and I went off to Greece.
Carly:Well, Dr. Andrews told me Michael had something called Matcumbe 
Syndrome, which is something only children of latin ancestery 
apparently get.
Sonny:And just because my mother was latin and we slept together, 
you're now assuming I'm really Michael's father?
Carly:No, it wasn't just that. That's what made me start to suspect 
it, especially after you told me all through childhood you had fevers 
just like Michael had. Which made me suspect that you had Matacumbe 
Syndrome and you passed the toxins in your blood on to your son. So 
when Dr. Andrews tested you for HIV, I asked him if he'd draw some 
extra blood from you so he could test your blood to see if it 
contained any Matacumbe toxins and to perform a paternity test between 
you and Michael. I only found out the results of the tests the day you 
returned from Italy. Sonny, you can't know how happy I was when I 
learned you really were Michael's father. I rushed to the airport 
planning to tell you the minute you stepped off the plane, but when I 
arrived at the airport I saw you kissing Brenda, so I left before you 
could see me. And when you came home to me and told me you and Brenda 
were back together and she was pregnant with your child, I decided to 
keep the truth about Michael to myself. I mean, if I told you about 
Michael, what would you have done? You'd have been in an impossible 
situation torn between the son you had with me, and the child you were 
going to have with Brenda. So I decided to remain silent and not 
complicate matters anymore than they already were. To let you go, and 
be satisfied with the knowledge that while I'd lost you, I still had 
your child. But I can stay silent any longer, Sonny. Eventhough it may 
cause problems between you and Brenda, the truth has to come out. I 
cna't allow AJ to be awarded custody of a child that isn't even 
his. I won't let him take our son from us.
Sonny(asks uncertainly trying to tamp down the hope that this is 
actually true that's growing inside him)Michael really is my son?
Carly:Yes, baby, he's really yours.
Sonny:(smiles)He's really mine.
Carly(smiles back with tears in her eyes)Yes, he's really yours.(she 
holds his face in her hands)That night we were together we made him. 
He's ours. Yours and mine.
Sonny(stares deeply into her eyes as the truth finally sinks in)After 
all this time, I'm finally a father. You can't know how long I've 
wanted this. Wanted a child of my own.
Carly:(caresses his cheek)Michael is the luckiest little boy in the 
world to have you for his daddy.(the shared knowledge that together 
they'd created a life together reignites the passion between Sonny and 
Carly as the distance between them suddenly vanishes and their lips 
come together in a hot, passionate kiss)
AJ(causes them to quickly jump apart by sneering)If you two can tear 
your lips apart, court is reconvening. I assume Carly was trying to 
persuade you to go up on the stand and lie for her. But if you don't 
want Brenda to find out about that passionate little scene I just 
witnessed, you'd better go up on the witness stand and back up 
everything Brenda said when she testified for me.(he heads back into 
the courtroom).
Sonny(calls to him.)Quartermaine, wait!
AJ:What is it?
Sonny:I won't be testifying for you because this hearing is about to 
come to an end.
AJ:Oh, has Carly finally wised-up and decided to concede defeat.
Carly:No, your case is going to be over because the judge is going to 
throw it out of court.
AJ:And why would he do that?
Sonny:Because you're not Michael's father, I am.
AJ(throws back his head and laughs)So is that what that hot little 
kiss was about? Carly convinced you to lie that you're really 
Michael's father. Well, it's not going to work. Everyone knows I'm 
Michael's father. You may have been able to con the court with your 
fake marriage, but you'll never be able to pull this one off.
Carly:It's not a lie. Sonny is Michael's father. Need I remind you 
there was never a paternity test done to prove you were Michael's 
father.
AJ:Oh, so that's your game, is it? You're going to try to rig a 
paternity test to prove that Sonny is really Michael's father? Don't 
even try it. Michael is my son and nothing the two of you try is going 
to change that fact.(he storms back into the courtroom)
Sonny:Great, he thinks we're lying and the court probably will, too, 
after Brenda's testimony.
Carly:But they'll have to believe what Grant Andrews says. He 
performed the tests on you and Michael that prove he's your son. Once 
he testifies, AJ will have no choice but to accept the truth.
