Veronica's Room, Port Charles Hotel:
Stefan:(sits down)So where should we begin?
Veronica:I guess we should tell each other what we've been doing with 
our lives for the past twenty or so years.
Stefan:You go first.
Veronica:All right, where should I start. Well, after we parted 
company I dropped out of college and became a sort of free spirit, you 
might say. I just went where the wind blew me. I've had some fantastic 
adventures. I guess that really sums up my entire existence since 
we've been apart.
Stefan:I hope I'm not responsible for you dropping out of college.
Veronica:You were in a way, but I don't regret a thing. Cass, I 
haven't been entirely truthful with you about why I'm really in Port 
Charles.
Stefan;What do you mean?
Veronica:I'm not her in Port Charles on business. I'm here to see our 
daughter.
Stefan;Our daughter!
Veronica:Yes, Cass, our daughter. The reason I had to drop out of 
college after you left me was because I found out I was pregnant with 
your child. When my parents found out they disowned me and threw me 
out. When I gave birth to our child, I knew I'd never be able to raise 
her on my own without any financial help from you or my parents, so I 
gave her up for adoption. But after all these years I finally had to 
see her.
Stefan:You know who adopted her?
Veronica:Yes, it was a private adoption.
Stefan:Have you seen her. Did you tell her she's adopted and you're 
her real mother.
Veronica:No, I just wanted to see her from afar. I really don't think 
there's any need for her to ever learn she was adopted and that we're 
her real parents. She seems pretty happy with her life just as it is. 
She's a model. She's going to have a baby and she's engaged to marry 
the man she loves as soon as he get a divorce.
Stefan:Brenda Barrett! Are you telling me Brenda Barrett is my 
daughter?

Port Charles County Courthouse:
Carly(as Sonny enters)I'm surprised Brenda didn't come with you when 
you came by to drive me here. I wouldn't think she'd want you to be 
alone with me considering how she feels about our relationship.
Sonny:Brendaa told me if I was driving you here, then she'd catch a 
ride with Jagger.
Carly:I'm really sorry if I'm causing problems between you and Brenda.
Sonny:Don't worry, Brenda and I have survived worse than this and 
we're still together.(Just then Jagger and Brenda enter and walk past 
them without even saying hello)
Bailiff(enters)Everyone please take your places, please. All rise for 
the Honorable Joesph T. Justice.
Judge(bangs his gavel)Court is now in session. Please be seated. What 
case is before me.
Bailiff:The custody case of Quartermaine vs. Corinthos.
Judge(going over his papers)Yes, I see this case was  brought to court 
several months ago and temporary custody was granted to the then Ms. 
Benson when it was learned she and Mr. Corinthos had married and that 
AJ Quartermaine had bribed men to lie about her lifestyle.
Alexis(stands up)Your honor, we believe we can prove that Mr. and Mrs. 
Corinthos' marriage was a fraudulent union from the start. That they 
only married in an attempt to fool the court. Already, they're 
planning to divorce and the hearing to dissolve their union is 
scheduled for a week from today in this very courthouse.
Justus(stands up)Your honor, something totally unforeseen happened the 
day Mr. and Mrs. Corinthos got married. Brenda Barrett, who Mr. 
Corinthos was in love with and at one time planned to marry, returned 
from the dead. A few hours after Mr. Corinthos had married Ms. Benson 
in good faith, Ms. Barrett showed up in town and made her presence 
known. She is the cause of Mr. and Mrs. Corinthos' impending divorce. 
No new marriage could have survived the strain put on it by Ms. 
Barrett's re-emergence into Mr. Corinthos' life.
Judge:I'm ready to hear your opening arguments...

Helena's Yacht:
Faison(storms in followed by Veronica)I told you it was a mistake to 
have her pretend to be Roberta Anderson.
Helena:What happened.
Veronica:The plan worked perfectly. Stefan came to me wanting to get 
reacquainted. Cesar is just a little upset because I improvised a 
little.
Faison:Improvised a little! She told Stefan that Brenda Barrett is his 
daughter.
Veronica:You told me Bobbie Spencer had his daughter. I was just 
sticking as close to the facts as possible.
Faison:Why didn't you just go all the way and tell him you were also a 
teen hooker when you met him?
Veronica:I thought about  it, but I thought it would tarnish Cass' 
image of me.
Faison:Not you. Roberta Anderson. You are not Roberta Anderson. You're 
just playing a role. Don't forget that.
Veronica:Cesar, you're just not seeing the big picture, here. Cass 
thinks I had to drop out of college because he got me pregnant than 
abandoned me. I told him because I got pregnant my parents disowned me 
and threw me out. do you know how guilty I can make him feel for 
ruining my life. I haven't even begun to milk that particular cow for 
all its worth, yet.
Faison:But what if he investigates and learns Brenda Barrett was never 
adopted as you claim. What if during his investigation he learns 
you're Veronica Barrett, a woman on the run from the law for killing 
several men. Changing your hair color isn't like changing your face.
Helena;Faison, I think Veronica telling Stefan Brenda Barrett is his 
daughter was a stroke of genius on her part.
Faison:Helena, you're as crazy as she is. Don't you realize the 
chances of this plan blowing up in our faces has just doubled.
Helena:Yes, but think of the benefits. If Stefan thinks the Barrett 
creature is his daughter, he'll never suspect that Caroline is his 
real child. Also, I know my son and he'll never allow a child of his 
to marry the best friend of Luke Spencer.(Helena throws back her head 
and laughs)Why, Stefan, will unknowingly start aiding us in our plot 
to break-up Sonny Corinthos and Brenda Barrett.

Port Charles County Courthouse:
Judge:Ms. Davis, call your first witness.
Alexis:I call to the stand Brenda Barrett(Brenda takes the stand and 
swears to tell the truth.)Ms. Barrett, how long after your return to 
Port Charles was it before you and Mr. Corinthos' became intimate, 
again.
Brenda(replies with relish as she smirks at Carly)About a week...maybe 
a week-and-a-half.
Alexis:Are you saying Mr. Corinthos was only married to his wife a 
little over a week before he began cheating on her with you?
Brenda:That's right, but since the marriage was never really a real 
one, Sonny and I never considered it cheating on her.
Alexis:Why do you say the marriage was never real?
Brenda:Because Sonny told me so. He told me he couldn't leave Carly 
until she was granted permanent custody. That he only married her so 
Carly wouldn't lose custody of her son and if Sonny says otherwise 
than Carly has convinced him to lie for her, just like she wanted me 
to do, but I wouldn't do it.
Alexis:Mrs. Corinthos wanted you to lie, today?
Brenda:Yes, she did. She told Sonny we owed it to her to lie, today, 
but I refused.
Alexis(smiles)I have no further questions for the witness. 
Carly(stops Justus from standing)Don't bother. (Carly glares at 
Brenda) If you try to question her she'll just manage to make things 
sound worse than she's already made them sound.
Justus:No questions.(Brenda continues to smirk at Carly as she gets 
off the stand. A furious Sonny follows her out of the courtroom)
