Kelly's Diner: A few weeks later: Kelly's Diner: Sonny(now working behind the counter as a busboy/cook/waiter/dishwasher)I've been hearing rumors about you, Spencer. Rumors that you're planning to take over the mob from Moreno. Luke(sipping his coffee)Well, our business is gone and you sunk all that money re-organizing the mob, so someone should take advantage of it, don't you think? Sonny:Luke, you know what Moreno tried to do to me. Luke:I know and I'm prepared for whatever he tries to throw at me. Sonny(notices Taggert and Jagger enter and sit down at a table)Oh, great, my two favorite cops. Luke:(turns around and looks at them from his seat at the counter)Are those two giving you a problem? Jagger(snaps his fingers)Oh, boy, we'd like some service here. Sonny(grabs two coffee cups and the coffee pot)Don't worry, I can handle it.(Sonny bangs the cups down on their table and fills them up, then he takes out his order pad)What can I do for you, boys? Taggert:How about falling off the face of the earth? Sonny:I meant food-wise. Jagger:You know, Corinthos, it's a good thing Ruby isn't alive and your buddy Tammy is running the place, these days. Because Ruby would have never given you a job. Sonny:Why not? You tried to rob her and she gave you one. The special today is chili. Taggert(to Jagger)How long do you think he'll be able to stay on the straight and narrow.(he glances at Sonny)After all, a zebra can't change his stripes. Jagger(sizing Sonny up)Not long, not long at all. Sonny:I'll get you both chili.(he heads into the kitchen) Jagger(gives up and follows him. He leans in the doorway as Sonny fills the bowls of chili)Oh, how the mighty gangster has fallen. I remember how you used to walk around this town so important in your fancy italian suits. Now I'm the one wearing the suits and you're the one wearing an apron and slinging hash. How does it feel, Sonny? Sonny:It's not my fault Stone wanted me with him when he died and not you. Jagger:His name was Mike. You didn't even call me until after Stone's memorial service was over so I could attend. Sonny:That's the way Stone wanted it. He said he'd already said his goodbyes to you when you came back to Port Charles and he told you he was dying of Aids. He didn't want to disrupt your life by making you return for his funeral, so he asked me to tell you about his death after the memorial service was over. Jagger:I had a right to be at his memorial service. Instead you stood at the funeral like you were his brother. You decided to have him cremated. You decided where to spread his ashes. You weren't his brother, I was. You stole my brother from me and you stole my place in his life. Sonny:It was what Stone wanted. Jagger:I only have your word for that, don't I? Best rest assured, I'm going to make you pay for it.(he storms out of the kitchen) Sonny:Oh, great, that's all I need. Now I've got two cops with a personal grudge against me. Helena's Yacht: Carly:All right, it's been two months, already. When am I going to get my husband back. Helena:My dear, we've just been giving Sonny and Brenda a little grace period of enjoying being together. Besides, it hasn't been all roses and sunshine for them. I'm sure your Michael hasn't enjoyed going from living in a penthouse to a room above Kelly's Diner, going from having money to being dirt poor, going from being part-owner of a nightclub to waiting tables in a diner. Besides, we needed to have all the players in place before we did anything. Now that Jagger Cates has arrived in town, we can proceed. Carly:Why is Jagger Cates so important to us. Helena:Before she became involved with Sonny, Brenda Barrett was wild for Jagger Cates. She tried every trick in the book to get him, but he only wanted Karen Wexler. Now Mr. Cates and Ms. Wexler are divorced and he's once again free. Carly:And you think Brenda may go after Jagger, again. Helena:Not really, but when we start dropping your little bombshells on the lovebirds, I do believe she'll seek him out for comfort and perhaps more than that. And since Mr. Cates carries such a grudge against your husband, I'm sure he'll be more than receptive. Carly:Speaking of which, when am I going to tell Sonny he's Michael's father and I'm pregnant with his child. Helena:Patience, my dear. The art of revealing a secret is to look like you have no choice but to reveal it not that you're doing it to cause trouble or out of spite or malice. You must wait for the right moment to arrive for you to reveal your secret to its full advantage. Ari(enters)Madame Cassadine, AJ Quartermaine to see Mrs. Corinthos. AJ(enters)So there you are, Carly. Carly:AJ, what do you want? AJ(slaps a legal document in her hand)Since you and Sonny are getting a divorce, I'm suing you for custody of Michael. I'll see you in court.(he exits) Carly:Oh, great, now what am I gonna do. Helena:But, my dear, don't you see. AJ Quartermaine has played right into our hands. Because of the looming custody battle, as much as you didn't want to cause any trouble between Sonny and Brenda by revealing the truth, you're going to have no choice but to tell Michael he's little Michael's real father. Carly(smiles)Should I go over and do it, now? Helena:No, you should do it during the custody hearing so it'll appear you're only revealing the truth because it's the only way to stop AJ Quartermaine from taking your son away from you. And there's also an added bonus. With a child now involved, dissolving your marriage will no longer be any easy matter. See what I mean, my dear. If you're patient and keep your secrets to yourself, the right opportunity eventually comes along for you to reveal them. Kelly's Diner: Brenda(comes downstairs and kisses Sonny)How's it going, baby. Sonny:Everything has calmed down for the moment. Shouldn't you be resting, upstairs. Brenda:Sonny, I'm pregnant, I'm not dead. Besides, I'm not even showing, yet. Tammy told me Jagger and Taggert dropped by for lunch. Have they had any word about my mother, yet? Sonny:Not that I know of. They just dropped in to give me a hard time. Brenda:Sonny, why can't they find her. I hate it that I can't go out alone because she might be waiting for me, somewhere. I hate being cooped up like this. Sonny(puts his arms around her from behind)I know you do. But it can't last much longer. Your mother can't hide, forever. Brenda:I want to start shopping for the baby. And we have to find a bigger place to live before the baby's born. Sonny:That's not going to be easy on my salary. Brenda:I don't know why you won't let me pay the rent. Sonny:Because I want to support my own child without any help from you. Brenda:We wouldn't be having this problem if you hadn't given Carly the penthouse. Sonny:Please, lets don't get started on that, again. Carly is my wife and I wanted to make sure she had a roof over her head. Since I couldn't offer her any alimony, I thought the least I owed her was to give her the penthouse. It's her and Michael's home. Bobbie(enters)Hi, Sonny. Brenda. Sonny:What can I get for you, Bobbie? Bobbie:Actually, I came because of Carly. Brenda:What now? Bobbie:Sonny, I'm really getting worried about her. She's spending an awful lot of time with Helena Cassadine, these days and it really worries me. Do you think you could go over to the penthouse and have a talk to her? Brenda(butts in)Bobbie, Sonny and Carly are getting a divorce. She's no longer his responsibility. She's your daughter. Why don't you talk to her. (she turns to Sonny as he begins taking off his apron)Sonny, you're not going to go over there and see her, are you? Sonny:Brenda, she's still my wife.(he kisses her)Let's go, Bobbie. I'll be back as soon as I can.(after he and Bobbie exit, Brenda screams in anger and throws a cup against the wall) Helena's Yacht: Helena(hangs up the phone and smiles at Jagger)Mr. Corinthos just left the diner. Brenda Barrett, poor thing, is all alone, now. Perhaps this would be a good time for you to pay her a little visit and get reacquainted. Jagger(returns her smile)Perhaps you're right.
