CHAPTER SEVENTY-EIGHT

STEFAN’S ROOM, GENERAL HOSPITAL:

Bobbie(was sitting by Stefan’s bedside when he woke-up, again)So, you made it through the operation. And from all reports your body is adapting to the new kidney. I guess my prayers went unanswered. (she leaned down to him) I was praying you’d croak on the operating room so I could finally be free of you so I could return to Roy.

Stefan: Stop lying, Barbara.

Bobbie: What makes you think I’m lying. You can’t honestly think after the way you’ve treated me and what you’re making me do at present that I’d want you to survive your operation. If you had died on the operating table, I would have danced on your grave.

Stefan(wasn’t fooled a bit by the act Bobbie was putting on for him) Dr. Jones says otherwise. He said I owe the fact that I’m alive entirely to you. That he was planning to kill me on the operating table, but you stopped him. Why would you do that, Barbara, when you profess to despise me so?

Bobbie: I didn’t do it for you. I did it for Tony. Not to mention, myself. If he had done it, he would have expected me to be beholden to him and come back to him, and that’s never going to happen. What are you going to do to him now that you now.

Stefan: Nothing. He’s too puny a subject for me to waste my talents on. But I’d suggest you’d warn him not to try it, again. Because if he does, I’ll have as much compunction to squash him under my shoe the same way I would a cock roach.

Bobbie: I can’t believe he confessed to you what he did. It just proves how totally whacked Tony still is.

Stefan: He told me in hopes that I’d feel beholden to you and let you go.

Bobbie: And will you.

Stefan: Sorry, Barbara, you had your chance to get rid of me, but you didn’t take it. Now you’re stuck with me.

HELENA’S HOSPITAL ROOM, GENERAL HOSPITAL:

Andreas(was caressing her hair when Helena opened her eyes)How are you, Madam. I was beside myself with worry.

Helena: It’s so nice to know you care, dear boy. I’m doing fine aside from the fact I’m missing a kidney. It still vexes me that I had to give Stefan one of mine.(she sighed disinterestedly)How’s he doing?

Andreas: The doctor’s seem to think his body will accept your kidney.

Helena: It better. His body better not reject it after I had to give it up. I mean, it’s not like they can give it back to me. Even if they could. (she made a face of distaste) Who would want it after it’s been inside Stefan. (she changed the subject) How are things going on the Corinthos’ matter. Have we found any dirty on them, yet, that I can use to make their lives a living hell.

Andreas: Something may be afoot with Mrs. Corinthos. She had a rather violent altercation with her ex-husband, AJ Quartermaine, earlier. As for Mr. Corinthos, he just discovered that Alexis Davis is his half-sister. When the man we have watching him last reported in he was on his way to the docks to meet Ms. Davis, and presumably tell him.

Helena: So, Alexis has finally discovered who her father is. Let’s pray she never learns who her mother is.

Andreas: But she already knows. It was Kristen, and you had her killed.

Helena: Andreas, sometimes things aren’t always as they appear. Now help me get dressed. I think it’s time I let Stefan know just who donated a kidney to him.

Andreas(wasn’t ready to let this go)But, Madam, what are you saying? That Kristen wasn’t Alexis’ mother? Is Alexis’ mother dead? Is she still alive? And if she is, just who is she?

Helena: Enough, Andreas! I don’t wish to discuss this topic any further. Now bring me my clothes so I can get dressed.

THE DOCKS OUTSIDE OF SONNY’S WAREHOUSE ON THE DOCKS:

Alexis: Why did you insist I return to Port Charles and meet you here. Ned wasn’t pleased by you summoning me back to Port Charles.

Sonny: I’m sure Ned can slither into his leather pants without your help for one night.

Alexis: Ned cancelled the rest of his concert tour and came back with me.

Sonny: Why?

Alexis: Because he’s jealous of both you and Stefan. If Ned had his way, I’d end my relationship with both of you.

Sonny: He’s jealous of me and Cassadine? That’s ridiculous. I’m married and expecting a child with my wife.

Alexis: Ned’s being totally irrational. Ever since I found out Stefan wasn’t my brother, he’s seen him as a potential rival for my affections. And as I recall your wife isn’t too thrilled about us being friends, either.

Sonny: Carly’s the possessive type. Even as a child she never liked to share her toys.

Alexis: So is Ned.

Sonny: Well, Nedley won’t have anything to worry about in my case, anymore.

Alexis: What are you talking about?

Sonny: Alexis, I found out who your father is. I’ve always wanted to have a big sister.

AJ:(watched Sonny and Alexis from across the street as he dialed up the penthouse. When Carly finally answered he didn’t bother to say hello)It’s too bad you’re not here, Carly. There’s going to be a big accident on the docks. You’d better get your widow’s weeds out. You’re going to need them.

Carly: AJ! What are you talking about.

AJ: I’m about to make you a widow. It’s a pity you can’t see it with your own eyes. It’s going to be spectacular.

Carly(started screaming into the phone as she heard him hang up)AJ! AJ! (then she grabbed her purse and ran out of the penthouse.)

AJ(gave his man the signal to begin cutting the rope to the crate that was hovering above Alexis and Sonny’s heads, then smiled in anticipation).
