CHAPTER NINETY-SEVEN
HELENA’S YACHT:
Sonny(couldn’t believe what he just heard)Your what?
Helena: I want you to become my lover.
Sonny: Not in this life time, Grandma, and not in the next. (he waved his hand in front of her face pointing out the fact he was wearing a wedding ring)In case you haven’t noticed this this is my wedding ring. I’m married.
Helena: You wouldn’t be the first married man to stray.
Sonny: I don’t cheat, and certainly not with you. Carly and I took vows in the church pledging our bodies and our souls to each other. When Carly and I join our bodies together that’s something sacred and special that we share together. It’s something we only do with each other. If either of us were to share our bodies with somebody else it would contaminate what we share when we make love.
Helena(smiled)It’s amazing. After all you’ve seen and done in your life, there’s this refreshing innocent quality about you. You really believe that just because some priest married you in a church that makes the sex you have with your wife somehow special and sacred and something only the two of you share together. I hate to destroy your illusions, dear boy, but a church is just a building, a priest is just a man and we all look the same in the dark. The sex you have with your wife isn’t some special thing. It isn’t any more different than a couple of animals rutting together when they’re in heat. (she added)If it’ll make you feel better you can close your eyes and pretend I’m your wife. I’ll even keep the lights off.
Sonny: There’s no need for us to even be discussing this, since it’s never going to happen. I will never betray my wife and contaminate what we share together by having sex with you. I’ll tell you what I do want to discuss, though. I want to know when you’re going to hand over that tape to me, so I can finally get you off my back.
Helena: As soon as I get you on to yours.
Sonny: That’s never going to happen.
Helena: Then you’ll never get that tape back and you‘ll never get me out of your life. I’ll tell you what I’ll do. If you finish turning over the rest of the mob to me and you become my lover for one night, I’ll give you the tape and we’ll call it even.
Sonny: You must really think I’m stupid. You’ll have another copy squirreled away some where which you can use against me and Carly at some further date.
Helena: What if I promise you there are no other copies.
Sonny: And I’m really supposed to believe you?
Helena: What if I also give you some damaging information on me that you could use against me if I tried to use the tape against you in future.
Sonny: No deal. I’m not going to betray my wife for any reason. (with that, Sonny stormed off of the yacht.)
WYNDEMERE:
Bobbie(handed Stefan a snifter of brandy)Stefan, are you all right.
Stefan: I don’t know, really. I’m trying to remember what my real mother was like. When you have bad memories of someone, they tend to wipe out all the good ones. I’m trying to remember if my real mother was any different from the cold and cruel woman that took over her life. I was so young when my father and his mistress killed her. But I think I vaguely remember her. I think for a very short time I did feel loved by my mother. But the cruelty of the woman I thought was my mother made me forget all about it.
Bobbie: What are you going to do about her? Are you going to call the police?
Stefan: No, this imposter robbed me of my mother. A mother I feel sure loved me every bit as much as I wanted this imposter to love me. She murdered my mother and now she’s murdered Alexis. I will deal with her, myself. I will have my revenge against her.
Bobbie: Stefan, if she really is Alexis’ mother, do you know what that means? She murdered her own daughter.
Stefan: Barbara, this woman is a monster. I should know. I was raised by her. There isn’t anything she isn’t capable of. God help anyone she’s able to get her hooks into.
HELENA’S YACHT:
Andreas: How did things go with Mr. Corinthos?
Helena: He refused to even consider it.
Andreas: Madam, we’ve watched him with his wife. He’s crazy about her. He’s one of those men who only has eyes for one woman, and that woman is his wife.
Helena: I will have him, Andreas, no matter what I have to do to accomplish it. And after I have him, I’ll use it to destroy his marriage and relationship with his precious little wife. I’ll show him what happens when someone tells me no.
