CHAPTER NINETY-NINE

THE PENTHOUSE:

Carly(came up behind Sonny who was talking on the phone and hugged him)Last night, was incredible, baby. I liked your new version of foreplay. It really added something to our love making. Did you mean everything you said.

Sonny(hung up the phone and turned to her)Yes, I meant every word.

Carly: It’s really true that when you had sex with me it made you feel clean, again? (he nodded as he nuzzled her neck)That’s amazing. I thought it made you feel just the opposite.

Sonny: As horrible as we were to each other that night, and as horrible as I felt for betraying Jason, my body was a whole other matter. It’s a bizarre feeling to feel so guilty, while at the same time my body was feeling so good.

Carly: We’ve come such a long way from that night, haven’t we? But we still have a long way to go?

Sonny: What do you mean?

Carly(took a deep breath hating what she was about to do, but knowing she had to do it some time)I’m talking about the baby.(before her eyes Sonny suddenly froze up. She imagined he acted the same way as a child when Deke hit him)I’ve gone along with letting you pretend the baby doesn’t exist, but she does. It’s time you came to terms with that.

Sonny: Carly, you know how I feel about this.

Carly: Yes, I do, but I also know when the baby is born healthy and you look back on the way you behaved, you’re going to hate yourself for it. You’re going to hate that you cheated yourself out of sharing this time with me and the baby while she was still growing inside of me.

Sonny(with clenched teeth)And how do you expect me to change that?

Carly: I signed us up for Lamaze classes. The first one is today. I expect you to go with me and act like any other expectant father who is joyfully looking forward to the birth of his first child. I’m not asking you to go shopping with me for baby toys and furniture or to help me redecorate the nursery or to be there when I have a doctor‘s appointment or a ultrasound, like you were before. I just expect you to go with me to the Lamaze class. I don’t think I’m asking that much of you. Will you go?

Sonny(looked like he wanted to say no. The pleading look on Carly’s face for him to say yes melted his resolve)All right, I’ll go. But I don’t like it.

Carly(smiled at him and jumped into his arms)You won’t regret this, baby. When the baby is born and she’s perfectly healthy, and you’ll look back on this and be glad you agreed. I promise you that.

WYNDEMERE:

Bobbie(looked around guiltily as she stepped outside of the front door)Mrs. Lansbury told me you were here. Why did you come here.

Roy: Carly told me something. She said you did something to get me out of jail. I want you to tell me what she meant?

Bobbie: Does it really matter? Roy, things have changed. I feel differently now than I did before. I’ve changed. I’m not the same person I was when we were together. I’m in a different place, now.

Roy(studied her)It’s true, isn’t it? Cassadine made a deal with you. If you agreed to live with him, he’d drop the charges against me. That’s what the deal was, wasn’t it? You degraded yourself with Cassadine for me.

Bobbie: All right, Roy, it’s true. Stefan wanted revenge on me for the way I behaved. The way I put you above my children’s needs. He felt I treated my children no better than Helena had treated him as a child. So his punishment was breaking us up and making me become his mistress.

Roy(grabbed Bobbie by the arm and tried to lead her away)That bastard! I’m getting you out of here.

Bobbie(pulled her arm out of Roy’s grip)Roy, you don’t understand. I’m where I want to be.

Roy: You don’t mean that!

Bobbie: Yes, I do. I can be myself with Stefan. With you I became someone I didn’t even recognize. I was obsessed with you. I neglected my children to be with you. I was even willing to trying and barter one of my daughter’s kidneys to get you out of jail. When I look back at the way I behaved, I’m ashamed of myself. I can’t say I’m thrilled about being Stefan’s mistress, but I do like myself better these days.

Roy: Bobbie, what has he done to you. He’s brainwashed you.

Stefan(opened the front door and joined them)Go inside, Barbara.

Roy: Bobbie, you don’t have to listen to him. Come away with me and we’ll leave this place together.

Stefan: Barbara!

Bobbie: Yes, Stefan. (she went back inside and closed the door behind her.)

Roy: Bobbie, come back!

Stefan: Mr. DeLucca, you have five minutes to get off my property. If you’re still here in that time, I’ll set my dogs on you.

Roy: What did you do to Bobbie.

Stefan: Nothing you haven’t done many times before, only I apparently did it better.

Roy(Lunged at Stefan) You bastard!

Stefan(fended him off)Be careful, Mr. DeLucca. This is what got you into your mess in the first place.

Roy: This isn’t over, Cassadine. I will get Bobbie back.

Stefan: You try and take from me what belongs to me and I’ll destroy you. You go to your buddy Luke Spencer and ask him just what I’m capable of doing if someone tries to take from me what’s mine. (with that, Stefan re-entered the house and slammed the door in Roy’s face.)

LAMAZE CLASS, GENERAL HOSPITAL:

Sonny(followed Carly into the room looking around uncomfortably)Just what are we supposed to do here?

Carly: It beats me. I know as much about the procedure as you do. But it’s better than way. That way we’ll learn together.

Teacher: May I help you two.

Carly: Yes, I’m Carly Corinthos and this is my husband, Sonny. We’re enrolled in the class, but were both a bit nervous since we have no idea what we’re supposed to do.

Teacher: Welcome to the class. Why don’t you both take a seat on the floor and we can get started with the class.

Sonny(hissed in Carly’s ear)Why are we supposed to sit on the floor?

Carly:(hissed back)I don’t know, but everyone else is doing the same thing.(Sonny helped Carly to the floor and sat next to her)

Teacher: Welcome, to the class mom and dad’s to be. We won’t really be doing much tonight. All we’ll be doing in this class is having the Dad’s become comfortable with touching your wives abdomen as I’m sure your wives are. Mom’s I want you to lay on your backs and expose your abdomens to your husbands. And Dad’s, I want you to run you hand over your wife’s abdomen’s and see if you can feel your baby’s growing inside of her womb.

Carly(could see Sonny wanted to jump to his feet and run from the room as fast as he could. So before he could do just that, she grabbed hold of his hand and held it against her stomach. She closed her eyes in despair when she felt him stiffen up the second his hand touched her belly)Sonny, please just do what the teacher asked, even if you have to just go through the motions. If you don’t people are going to stare at us and wonder what’s wrong with you?

Sonny(was saved from the uncomfortable situation by the most likeliest person. Just then Taggart entered the room)Taggart, what are you doing here?

Taggart: I came to ask your wife a few questions.

Sonny: About what?

Taggart: AJ Quartermaine.
