CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN

THE SAFE HOUSE:

Sonny(opened the door for Carly to enter.)Here it is. It’s not much, but we should be safe here for awhile.

Carly(looked around anxiously)I you sure no one knows about it?

Sonny: No, I kept it as a place I’d go to if something went wrong. After I left Brenda at the altar, I had to leave the country with a suitcase full of money and with nowhere safe to go. I wanted to make sure if that ever happened again I‘d have a place to go that was safe where I could make plans.(he looked down at Michael who was still asleep)I’ll go and put Michael down.

STEFAN’S BATHROOM, WYNDEMERE:

Stefan(stood in the doorway watching Bobbie soaking in a bubble bath)Are you still sulking, as well as soaking?

Bobbie(glared at him)I’m not sulking. I’m trying to forget the fact that you tried to force me to choose if you or Roy should die. Have you gotten that ridiculous notion out of your head?

Stefan: As a matter of fact, I haven’t.

Bobbie: There’s nothing you can do to make me make a decision like that.

Stefan:(smirked)That’s where you’re wrong, Barbara. In fact, I’ve just dropped the whole problem right at your doorstep.

Bobbie: What is that supposed to mean.

Stefan: I summoned DeLucca over here and I called him out.

Bobbie: What do you mean you called him out?

Stefan: I slapped him across the face with a pair of gloves and challenged him to a duel.

Bobbie: You’re joking, right?

Stefan: I never joke about duels. Do you suppose your brother will act as DeLucca’s second?

Bobbie: Stefan, this is 2001. Dueling is straight out of the 18th century or something.

Stefan: I always felt it was an idea that should have never gone out of style. Since I’m sure DeLucca has no idea how to handle a saber, it’ll be ten paces with pistols aimed and ready. I’m sure he has extensive experience using a gun.

Bobbie: Stefan, that’s barbaric!

Stefan: Whatever, but you now have until dawn to make your decision between DeLucca and I.

Bobbie: And just what is it you’re expecting me to do. Take a bullet for one of you? If you are, it isn’t going to happen.

Stefan: We shall see, Barbara, we shall see. (with that he walked back into the bedroom.)

THE SAFE HOUSE:

Carly(as Sonny re-entered from putting Michael to bed.)Sonny, what are we going to do?

Sonny: I think I know of a way we might be able to escape. Of course, holding up here while we try to pull this off could put us in danger. But if we pull it off we’d be free of the mob and the danger for good.

Carly: Let’s do it, then.

Sonny: Carly, you haven’t heard what it is.

Carly: What is it?

Sonny: We’d have to fake our deaths. Convince everyone in Port Charles that we’re dead. And it would have to be so convincing no one would ever guess the truth.

Carly: What are we waiting for. Let’s do it.

Sonny: It’s not as easy as it sounds. To do this we’re going to need bodies to fill-in for us and that’s not going to be an easy task to accomplish. I’d have no problem getting my hands on the body of a dead man, but a pregnant woman and a child Michael’s age...

Carly: Sonny, wouldn’t someone be able to tell they weren’t us?

Sonny: Not in the condition they’d be in. They’d be burned beyond recognition.

Carly:(made a face of distaste at the thought of setting dead bodies on fire, especially the body of a child) We’d set their bodies on fire?

Sonny: It would be the only way to fool people into believing they were us.

Carly: But what about the child’s family? It would be horrible for a parent to think their child was alive and waiting for him to come home, only for him to be dead and them to not know it.

Sonny: That’s why I have reservations about doing it. If these people have any loved ones, they’d never even know they were dead. They’d be forever waiting for them to come home, only they never would. Aside from robbing these people of being grieved for by their loved ones, we’d also have to the cemetery and steal the identities of someone who died, most likely a child, so we could get a social security card and other forms of I.D. in their name so we could develop new identities for ourselves.

Carly: I see what you mean. It is pretty unpleasant and gruesome.

Sonny: The question is how far are we willing to go to escape the mob and lead a normal life.
