CHAPTER EIGHTY-SIX
THE RITZ HOTEL, LONDON, ENGLAND:
Alexis(and Stefan were pacing the lobby waiting for Jax to come down and meet them)I don’t know what’s taking him so long. It’s been over thirty minutes, already.
Stefan: I don’t like this. There’s something wrong. (suddenly the Scotland Yard burst into the lobby and rushed over to the desk clerk)
Police Captain: I understand you have a man named Jasper Jacks registered here?
Desk Clerk: Yes, we do. Is something the matter?
Police Captain: The American FBI contacted us with news Mr. Jacks is wanted in the states for questioning in the murders of several women.
Desk Clerk: Are you saying we got some bloody Jack The Ripper registered here?
Police Captain: That’s what it looks like, Mate. What room is he registered in.
Alexis: Did you hear that, Stefan.
Stefan: I don’t like this. I don’t like this, at all. (they followed the police up to Jax’s room. At first the room didn’t look any different from when they last saw it. Then the police began to find things that they either hadn’t notice before, or hadn’t been there.)
Patrolman #1(called from the bathroom)Captain, you’ve got ta take a look at this. It’s a bloody shrine, it is.
Captain(looked around the walls of the bathroom in shock. The walls were covered with pictures of Chloe. And on each photo picture written in what looked like was blood were vulgar words like: “slut” “whore” and “tramp”.)
Patrolman #1: I’m not sure if this is a shrine to some woman he hates or to someone he loves.
Captain: It may be a little bit of both.
Patrolman #2:(called from the bedroom)I’ve found something else, Captain.
Captain(came out of the bathroom) What is it.
Patrolman #2: Old plane ticket stubs.
Stefan: (to Alexis)You want to make a bet they’re for the days and times those women were murdered in Port Charles.
Alexis: Stefan, what’s going on here.
Stefan: It’s Mother. She did this. She’s out-smarted us, again.
Alexis: Where’s Jax.
Stefan: Mother has him. He’s probably dead, by now.
Alexis: My God, it’s all our fault. If we hadn’t left him alone...
Stefan: The man we spoke to may not have been Jax, anymore than the one Detective Taggart saw attacking Mother. I have a feeling we got here too late.
Alexis: What are we going to do?
Stefan: Nothing. There’s nothing we can do. We have to get back to Port Charles and make sure Mother doesn’t kill anyone else. Now that she’s set Jax up so well to take the fall for her crime, the killings are going to start, again. And the first one on her hit list is going to be Barbara. I have to get home so I can protect her.
HELENA’S YACHT:
Apollo:(the man who impersonated Jax in London entered and smiled at Andreas)It’s nice to see you again, Cousin.
Helena: So did you did everything I instructed you to do, Apollo.
Apollo: Yes, Mrs. Cassadine. I planted everything in the room as you instructed me to do.
Helena: And what of Jax?
Apollo: I hung him on a hook in your deep freezer as soon as I arrived at the yacht. (he added as he made a face of distaste)It was just in time, too. He was starting to smell after that long transatlantic flight.
Andreas: Madam, how will you keep Mr. Jacks preserved so when the police find him he’ll look like a fresh kill.
Helena: My scientists have been experimenting with chemicals to keep a corpse fresh when he’s embalmed in one of those cryogenic freezers. We’ll just have to thaw him out, periodically, and pump some of those preservatives into him. Enough of Jax. It’s time to move on to our next victim. Now that Jax has been revealed as the Sex Toy Stalker, he’s about to go on a killing spree.
THE PENTHOUSE:
Carly(and Sonny entered)Baby, did I tell you how brilliant you were at the Port Charles Hotel. You had everyone convinced you were AJ the way you were bobbing and weaving all over the lobby. You even used the same whiny tone of voice he talked in as you were abusing the hotel staff and complaining about the service you were being given and threatening to have everyone fired because your family owned the hotel. Typical AJ. You should have gone on the stage. You would have been a roaring success.
Sonny(dropped the suitcases filled with AJ’s belonging on the floor)Long as nobody guessed it was me, that’s all that matters. I just hope no one starts to wonder why AJ had a hat pulled down over his face so now one could get a good look at him.
Carly(took some papers out of her purse)I don’t think anyone even cared. They were just thrilled to see the back of him. And now that I’ve got a sample of his handwriting, I can pen an appropriately sniveling goodbye note. While I’m doing that, will you go into the kitchen and whip my up something to eat. I’m starving.
Sonny:(horrified)Carly, you just killed a man. How can you eat after that.
Carly: Sonny, I didn’t kill a man, I stomped on a roach. Now will you take your cute little buns into the kitchen and make me something to eat. (Sonny shook his head as he did just that, while Carly got down to forging her note.)
