UNSUCCESSFUL LANDINGS

PAGE 5
Our first mid air crash occurred on Sunday 4th July 2004 and is the first since the web page has been up.  Nigel was flying his new "Hots" with American" markings and Michael was flying his plane (Dont know the name) with German markings. Of course it was unintentional and happened very quickly.  The planes basically hit head on.  The "Hots" lost 1/2 an elevator and was still flyable but the German Hun lost half a wing and plummeted to the ground. The photos show the results.

RAILWAY BOB AND THE DELTA WING

This next section is dedicated to Railway Bob's one and only day of Delta Wing Flying.  Bob Bought a nice Delta wing and promtly fitted his OS FX 46 motor.  The motor is a screamer and the wing took off at a rapid pace of knots.  The plane looked a bit twitchy and as it turned out, it was.  Bob lost control and lost the plane over the hill. Fortunately, Ron was on the other side of the hill and saw the plane go in.  We found it and it only had minor nose damage (pic 2) which was fixed with some Zap.  Bob put a red condom (pic 3) on the front of the wing, obviously believing this will improve performance.  The concensus is, Bob was wrong (Pic 4).  The wing hurtled so far into the ground that the nose cone, complete with condom, sheared off into the depths of the bush.  Bob dug down about 8 inches (Pic 6) to retrieve the nose. As you can see by pic 7, the nose was literally rooted, as was the servo in pic 8.  Bob
