Three top members of an an organized crime ring known as the "Midlands Mafia" were arrested after a shootout Saturday night. Jeffery Lingo-28, Paulie Remes-34, and Victor Sarratoga-44, the alleged leader of the ring, were arrested after a shootout involving Jack Garner, a local P.I. and the Fremont Police Department.
Jack Garner-47, the owner of Garner Investigative Agency of Fremont, Nebraska, was hired to do a background check on the fiance of a client's daughter. The fiance turned out to be Jeffery Lingo, a key player in the crime ring. Garner was running surveillance on Lingo, when he followed him to The Vault, a local bar. Sarratoga spotted Garner and attempted to break into Garner's car, which was loc

Lingo and Remes are facing charges of drug trafficking and money laundering, as well as accessory to murder. Sarratoga was pronounced dead at the scene. Garner was life flighted to Bergen Mercy Hospital in Omaha, where he was listed in critical condition, then upgraded to serious condition Sunday morning.
