It had been years since she'd heard from the Prince. Their relationship had been a rocky one, with him being gone all the time. She didn't want to break his heart, but William was a busy man, and she had needs. In her right hand, she held her favorite faded picture of Jack. In her left hand, she held the tattered last letter from her Prince that she had read so many times.
"Dear loyal fan," it began, "Thank you for your interest. I have been very busy these days keeping up public appearances. I hope you will continue to support myself and the royal family in the future. Sincerely Yours, Prince William."
Scarah had always thought it was cute the way he referred to her as "loyal fan." No one had ever had a pet name for her before. But their love was strong, and Scarah kept the Prince's wish to "continue to support" him. But as the years passed and her Prince failed to write again, Scarah grew wary and began to feel abandoned. When Jack came into the picture, she knew her love for William had dwindled.
