Part 1 By Joanna ([email protected]) Summary: This is supposed to take place during the gap of season 2 and 3, when Jack is staying with Grams and Jen, and Andie is getting treatment. Jack could grams calling him. He didnt want to move. He had only just woken and still had his sleepy heat. Jack please can you come down, we need to talk! came grams voice. Jack through back his sheets and scouted around for a pair of jeans which he could quickly throw on, before making his way down the stairs. I coming, Im coming he yawned He turned the corner in to the kitchen and froze. He couldnt think of a word to say, even if he had it would have been a job to make his mouth utter them. He looked at grams in despair, as if she had just reached out for a knife and had driven it into his heart. Whats going on? Jack finally spoke. Jack looked at his father who was now rising from the breakfast table. Jack could still see the disgusts in his eyes. Jackwe need to talk Mr McPhee answered. Jack glanced again at grams apologetic eyes, he didnt blame her for letting him in; he only too well how sly and two faced his father could be. No, I dont think we do. You said enough last time! snapped Jack Im going out Jack stormed out the house, hearing grams cry of his name over and over. He started to run, but didnt know where he was going. He suddenly realised he was wearing little more than is bed clothes, but had no intention of going back to the house, not now anyway. He carried on running faster and faster. Jack could no longer see as tears blurred his vision. He stopped running and slumped against a wall. He was totally oblivious of the fact the Jen had come and sat next to him. He was startled to hear her voice. I didnt think you much further than here. Grams called me when he showed up. I believe her exact word were stop what ever you are doing and get your best fiend butt back here now! Jen put on he best grams voice, though she didnt receive a smile. Are you okay? she asked already knowing the answer. Why? Jack whispered. Why now? He cant honestly expect me to sit there and have a father son conversation with him, can he? Jack, I dont know why he has turned up and I know that you dont want to talk to him, but I really think you should Jen sighed. Jack couldnt believe what he was hearing. Why was she saying this? You cant be serious, youre the person who only three weeks ago said that I was better off without him! Jack stared her right in the eyes. I know Jack, I know. But dont you think you could just hear him out, show him that nothing he says bothers you. Show him you dont need him, you have found yourself a new family she paused to access his unreadable expression. She tenderly carried on, The sooner you do that, the sooner he can be gone. And if you want it to, it could be for good Jen placed a hand on Jacks arm. He looked at her and before she could read his expression he was crying on her shoulder. Jack, it will be okay, I can stay with you if you like? I dont think I can do this by myself he paused as if unsure if he wanted to share something, then gave up hiding it, When its just you, me and grams Im fine, I am just Jack. But as soon as my dad shows up I turn in to Jack, the gay guy. As long as my dad looks at me in the way he did this morning all I am going to be is Jack, the gay guy Jack lifted his head from Jens shoulder, and there is more to me than that. You see it, grams sees it, so why cant my own father see it? You arent going to find the answer sitting here, are you? Jen smiled warmly as she pulled him off the ground. They both walked hand in hand towards the house. Jack? What? Dont take this the wrong way, but are you wearing your pyjamas? They looked in to each others eyes and laughed uncontrollably.
