A Lost Scene from "Coming Home" By Steph ([email protected]) Summary: This takes place after Jack leaves Dawson and Joey to talk and goes to find Jen. Author's Note: Thanks to Roxy, J, and Anne for being the best beta readers ever. You guys rock! Seriously, though, I couldn't do this without them. As I'm sure it did for everyone else, "Coming Home" inspired me to write. However, I deviated from the norm and didn't write about P/J (even though I love them). Hope you like it. Feedback as always is appreciated and craved. "Well, Miss Lindley. It looks like you were very convincing." Jack climbed into the boat and sat down next to Jen. "Not quite. I think he only did it to placate me, so I'd leave him alone." Jack and Jen both glanced at the boat a few yards away where Joey and Dawson appeared to be talking. They were both hoping for the same thing, a miracle. "What did he say?" "Something about it being highly predictable, then awkward. He had me a little confused." Jen turned to face Jack. "I'm not sure if he's still upset, angry, or if he just doesn't care anymore." "Well, Jen, I can't even imagine what he's going through. I feel for him. It's gotta be hard." "Yeah, but there are other people involved here." Jen didn't want this air of tension that permeated around Dawson to enter her and Jack's friendship, so she moved on. "What did Joey say?" "Not much. She was definitely waiting for him to make the first move, to extend that proverbial olive branch." Jack placed his hand over Jen's, letting her know that this problem wasn't going to extend to them or their friendship. "Well, we all knew it wasn't gonna be easy. He won't even say Pacey's name. He called him what's-his-name this afternoon." "Well, he briefly mentioned him while we were painting this afternoon, but we weren't even talking about Pacey, so I don't think it counts." Jack got up as the credits began rolling on the movie. "This conversation between Dawson and Joey is gonna be a piece of cake compared to the one between Dawson and Pacey." "Yep, I think we're all dreading that one, but it's inevitable." Jen got up from her seat and began folding her towel. " Hey, Jack, will you promise me one thing?" "Sure, Jen, anything. What is it?" "Promise me that you'll never fall in love with my best friend and sail away for the summer." Jen couldn't help but smirk as she said it. "Hey, wait a minute. I thought I was your best..." Before Jack could finish his sentence, Jen was already running down the beach laughing hysterically. Jack took off after her. "Come back here, Homecoming Queen. I'm gonna get you for that one. We'll see who gets kicked off the island tonight." The End |
