Sufi Magic

Expression of the Intimate

Sufi magic is an expression of the divine, it's aims are, in my view, noble and selfless.

The basic thinking behind Sufi magic is this: To enlighten those viewing the 'miracles', by turning the world of sense on it's head for one moment...

In the words of Bahaudin:

"There is a food other than ordinary food. This is the food of impressions [naqsh-ha], which are penetrating into man ceaselessly from many directions of his environment. Only the elect know what these impressions are and can direct them."

Sufis say that magic cannot exist outside of the mysterious, it needs to be seen in an environment that defines it as something impossible, because if it were seen as the everyday it would lose it's meaning and become nothing:

"Many miracles are considered such because they seem to defy the conventions of space or time or both. A breakthrough into an extra dimension would rob them of their inexplicable quality." Idries Shah

Sufi magic creates a space, in time, where miracles are allowed to happen, and through this, hope to challenge the very core of belief and prejudice about the world
