| Already well-known in the world of skateboarding for his no-holds-barred take on street skating as well as his unending showmanship and crazed antics off his board, Bam was the perfect candidate for Jackass fame. He had already made a mint on his self-produced skate/stunt videos, "CKY: Landspeed", "CKY2K", and "CKY3" and immediately jumped on the chance to get his questionable brand of humour out beyond his loyal underground following. It worked.Bam, along with his dysfunctional family and local posse of nutball best friends, became the breakout stars of the hit series. | 'Jackass' continued for 3 seasons, and was followed by 'Jackass: the movie' in 2001. Though long-cancelled, the series has maintained it's popularity to the point that it is still rerun every night during MTV's post-primetime programming. The continued popularity of 'Jackass', as well as the more recent attention Bam garnered for the release of 'CKY: Latest and Greatest' and his first feature length film 'Haggard', kept Bam in the public eye and in the minds of MTV executives. | And so it was that in early 2003 MTV announced plans for a reality show based around the chaotic life of Bam Margera, his family, and his insane circle of friends, acquaintances, and accomplices. Poised to capitalize on the success of MTV's other reality series such as 'The Osbournes', and riding on the cancelled coat-tails of the hilarious but underrated 'New Tom Green Show', 'Viva La Bam' promises to revive MTV's failing Sunday primetime lineup and resuscitate Jackass nation for the new millenium. | ||||||||||||||||||||
