CKY European Tour 2003
5th December 2003 - Birmingham Academy 2
CKY opened with energy and enthusiasm- no less than the long-awaiting and hyped-up audience had been counting down the days for. After being warmed up by 'Ramshackle', Birmingham Academy was shaken by the sound thousands of screaming teenagers, welcoming the band to the stage...CKY were finally here! They came onto the stage cigarettes and alcohol at the ready, this was going to be one hell of a gig! And they were fucking amazing! They rocked the academy for at least an hour-and-a-half,playing the crowds favourite songs, and even playing requests. The crowd erupted as the riff of '96 Quite Bitter Beings' rang out throughout the venue, people ran from the bar to get a good view of the band performing there most famous and well-known song, and the whole audience headbanged and moshed to the rhythm. There is no other word to use but, ROCK! And just to make a satisfied audience ever happier, 'Attached at the hip', 'Escape from hellview', 'Flesh into gear', 'Sink into the underground', 'Knee deep' and 'My promiscuous daughter', were of the many to follow! And as you thought it just couldn't get any better, there came the introduction of the special guests- and out came Raab Himself, to help perform his very own CKY song, 'Shippensburg'. And then, on came Phil and April Margera, and to get even better the fainting girls in the sudience had to deal, not only with the guys from the band, but also with the entrance of the one-and-only Bam Margera! And i can tell you, it was sweaty! Then, as a special treat, there came CKY's very own tribute to christmas, a heavy metal version of 'Santa Claus is coming to town'- Bam on vocals and Phil on guitar! There was total madness and fun onstage, and uncountable amounts of crowdsurfing and livid moshing, as the lights went back up and the band returned for an encore, to the pleasure of the crowd. But, it had to come to an end...and with chants of 'C-K-Y' echoing around the academy, the lights fell for a final time! Vern returned to greet the audience lucky enough to be at the front of the crowd, and everyone headed to the doors leading backstage, warned away by the security guards! We left with more enrgy than we arrived with, pounds worth of merchandise, CKY songs ringing through our ears, photo's of the band in all their glory, and memories of a fucking wicked night; for a 4 hour drive home. But if anything's going to make you a CKY fan for life, it's seeing them live in concert...it's just gotta be done! WE LOVE YOU! PLease return to the UK soon...but in the meantime, release more albums, make lots of money, and become super famous!          - Amy De-Keyzer, 2003
