THE FRAGMENT

One of the most important pieces of evidence at the Snowshark Preservation Society headquarters is the pottery shard. It was discovered in Young's cabin along with the Journal and has been examined by scientists from all over the world. Probably, only the Shroud of Turin has been studied by more scientists. And what have the scientists discovered about this important piece of evidence? Actually, quite a bit. The specimen seems to be in excess of five hundred years old. In actuality it predates the people known as Native Americans and was found in the North Eastern United States of America. The vessel was formed without the use of a potter's wheel, which is, of course, what you would expect of early people of the Americas. The design was pressed into the soft clay with some sort of tool. The tool was probably made of wood or bone and not made by some sort of stamping tool. The depiction of the dorsal fin is quite clear along with what appear to be snowflakes. One can only speculate about the missing pieces of the pot. Would the inscriptions have told a story in symbols and pictures? Maybe some grand adventure or a tragedy without parallel. Who can tell. But as research continues, we will continue to learn more about the beasts.
