Mall Walkers Pace
While walking through the mall,
The pace one walks is his own call.
Comparing it to a truck transmission I fear,
The range is from granny low to fifth gear.
Health and age seem to be the pace setters.
Some take their time , others are real go getters.
The slow walkers are there and not in their bed.
So most walkers give them the go ahead.
One young lady named Leslie, as she breezes past,
I look in wonder, with legs so short how she goes so fast.
She probably is younger than I, by twenty to thirty years.
I couldn’t keep pace with her if I used all my gears.
Some are there because of doctors advice.
Others are there to keep the waist line precise.
It makes no difference why they are there.
Walking will do more for their health than sitting a chair.
Some mornings, to get out bed seems exercise enough.
But you get up and go to let others think you are tough.
Besides it is no fun staying home and balking,
When you have friends and coffee waiting for the talking.
